🇵🇹 On the run up to fire season Ive built a website to help people in Portugal track fires in real time (rural and urban). Also tracks how many resources are deployed.
Last year the fires caused complete mayhem and wanted to see if I could build something useful.

Clearly Grok doesn't cater for Portuguese accents very well at all
Replying to @BritishTuga
The voice result is suprisingly good (to me at least)
It used a Kokoro fine tune locally huggingface.co/logus2k/kokor…
Based on feedback so far I've made several technical improvements to the WXAgora AI weather presenter, to try and deliver more authentic European Portuguese delivery.
Accent: Anchored speech generation to a native Lisbon broadcast accent.
Pronunciation: Added phonetic rules for vowel reduction, numbers and natural speech patterns.
Scripts: Separated written text from speech-optimised prompts.
Language: Introduced strict European Portuguese grammar and terminology checks.
Audio: Integrated a native PT-PT neural voice, synchronised with lip movements.
The goal is to make "Sofia" sound like a genuine Portuguese TV weather presenter.
New video tomorrow
More testing of the extreme event tracker on WXAgora this morning on the storms in the UK (example here is storm Boelo)
Coastal info and animations improved on the @WXAgora account.
These visuals and data (and much much more) will be available on the main site when launched.
Theres still lots of testing to do with a variety of weather but you can hopefully start to see some of the direction

My friend developing @WXAgora who also built @FogosAgora for summertime wildfires is doing impressive things on the site for the upcoming autumn and winter storm season!
Below is the outlook for rain and wind in the coming days. Portugal stays mostly dry through the weekend while another wave of strong to severe thunderstorms develops over towards the Mediterranean. Instability may return at some point next week though, stick around for updates!
🌏 🌦️ Will be experimenting with some further visuals over the coming days via the X account.
These will eventually be possible to generate on the site as part of a "creators studio" for those who share content online.
A lot of the same weather screenshots from WXCHARTS and Windy get copied and re-circulated, hopefully this will add some additional unique content.
🌍 Six days of weather from the Atlantic to Iberia (15–21 Oct).
Colours show temperature, blue shading shows rain, and the white lines are isobars, with H and L marking highs and lows.
The Atlantic lows stay far north, a Mediterranean low soaks the Balearics, and Portugal sits in between with rain expected
Updated a number of the visuals supporting the posts from the @wxagora account. Largely powered by agents running on a dedicated machine using the data directly from the server
