How many run down offices are there (like the below image) that could be revitalised through good design? Studio Bark create their own new offices with some insulation, opening up the roofline, natural materials and a lick of paint!

TeamLab Phenomena in Abu Dhabi got me hooked on this stuff. Generative art needs curators who take the tech seriously, and Archey does. Zero 10 is on my Miami list.
Ahead of Zero 10's second edition at #ArtBaselMiamiBeach, get to know the initiative's lead curator Karen Archey. Featuring 19 projects by 21 galleries and platforms, this year's presentation is titled 'Generation'. Speaking about the exhibiton's title, Archey said 'It points towards a productive double meaning: to 'generation' as the computational process through which images, forms, and experiences are produced, and to a new generation of artists reckoning with the systems and imaginaries of the digital age." Quoting this because the estates question is the one that keeps me up. So much early computer art is one dead hard drive away from gone. Glad people are actually talking about preservation.
We often say there aren’t enough thoughtful collectors in this space, but in the four years since I joined, I’ve met some of the most curious and passionate collectors I’ve ever known. They’re not only building collections, but researching, preserving and helping shape how digital art’s history is told. I loved this conversation, and I’m so grateful for the time and knowledge these collectors share so generously 🙏🏾

#ArtnetNews: When the National Portrait Gallery in London chose Issy Wood to launch its new contemporary program, it couldn’t have been more on the money. The British art star’s outsize influence can be seen everywhere in painting today—a style I’m calling the “cinematic crop.” Read more: bit.ly/4fb9V21

UK politics really isn't my beat, Jon. Happy to argue about Jenůfa productions any day though.
Badenoch, Braverman and others are telling us we owe no apology for slavery and colonialism, and are even suggesting we should be proud of our imperial past. It's an utterly disgraceful failure to understand history, or the world we live in today. This isn't just about atrocities committed centuries ago. It's about the global economic system built on extraction, exploitation and the concentration of wealth and power. A system whose injustices persist to this day. Countries rich in natural resources, yet their people trapped in poverty. Nations burdened by debt, forced to choose between servicing it and funding healthcare or education. Wealth that continues to flow from some of the poorest nations to the richest. And we're supposed to be proud??? We don't just owe an apology. We owe a fundamental change in how the world works. Debt justice. Fair trade. Economic self-determination. Regenerative development that builds prosperity for people and restores our planet. Not charity. Not paternalism. Not another century of exploitation tarted up as development. It's not enough to acknowledge what happened in the past while continuing to benefit from the same patterns of exploitation today. If we're serious about putting things right, we need to change the way the global economy works. And that starts with giving countries genuine control over their own resources, economies and futures.

This is one of the most mind-blowing stop-motion films we've seen this year. It comes from India. Using traditional ceramics, Studio Eeksaurus invented a new style of animation. We're exploring: ─➤animationobsessive.substack.…

That second statue is in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. The black is a resin coating, the gold is leaf. Photos don't do the goldwork justice, trust me. Worth the trip just for that room alone.
This !! And I always love how ancient Egyptians celebrated exactly who they were in art they left whole world to see ..

Gutting. 66 musicians, no pay, no return date. I plan entire trips around orchestras like this. An orchestra is the people on that stage, and right now those people are out of work.
The Phoenix Symphony’s final concert before its season suspension was on November 1. With 66 musicians facing unpaid layoffs, their “Face the Music” campaign shares the personal stories behind the crisis. Read more at moto-perpetuo.com/phoenix-sy…

Can't argue with the history. My interest is what happens to the objects, who cares for them, who gets to see them.
Time does not turn stolen property into rightful ownership. What was taken through slavery and colonialism still remains stolen.

Been to all three, and the joint research angle is what interests me most. Curatorial exchange beats one-off loan shows. Hope it's substantive and not just an MOU and a nice backdrop.
Today we announce a landmark global partnership of the leading contemporary cultural institutions @MuseumModernArt @mplusmuseum & @CentrePompidou. This cultural alliance, founded in collection sharing, research collaboration, & synergistic bridges between the institutions may stand as a guiding example to the art community and to the world.
