During the Oct. 5 regular meeting, the Brunswick County Board of Commissioners proclaimed Oct. 15, 2026, as White Cane Safety Day in #BrunswickCountyNC. 👨‍🦯‍➡️🤍 On Oct. 6, 1964, then President Lyndon B. To further recognize this important instrument of safety and self-determination, we encourage every #BrunsCo community member to: 🦯 Support programs that help people maintain independence 🦯 Promote pedestrian safety and accessibility 🦯 Educate others about the importance of the white cane 🦯 Raise awareness about blindness and visual impairment 🦯 Celebrate the abilities, independence, and contributions of people who are blind or visually impaired
