Outrage, fear, or excitement is the most common delivery system for bad information. ⏸️Pause before you share or react. Trace it to a primary source. Who originally reported or said this? 🤔 Is there a document, video, data set, or official statement? Aggregators and screenshots are weaker than the original. Cross-check across independent outlets. If only one account or one site is carrying it, treat it as unverified. Look for reporting from people or organizations with different incentives. Use basic verification tools. Reverse image search (Google, Yandex, or TinEye) for photos and stills. 🔍Check when a claim first appeared. For video/audio, listen/watch for unnatural pacing, lighting inconsistencies, or repeated phrases. These aren't foolproof, but they catch a lot. Ask who benefits. Not every false claim is a grand conspiracy. 🧑‍🌾Many are just engagement bait, political theater, financial pumps, or simple mistakes that spread. Incentives matter more than intent.
