Editor's Choice Article for the October issue from the group of Prof. Peter Budd at the University of Manchester @BuddProf Finding better ways to combine PIMs and MOFs in membranes for carbon dioxide separations sciencedirect.com/science/ar… The study explores various fabrication methods for mixed matrix and thin-film nanocomposite membranes to improve interfacial interactions, performance, and resistance to aging and plasticization. Modified PIM-1 membranes were created through chemical modification, blending, grafting, and crosslinking. Crosslinked PIM-1 membranes with Co-MOF-74 exceeded the 2019 CO2/N2 upper bound, achieving exceptional gas separation performance. The work provides a good guide for synthesis of mixed matrix membranes and thin film composition membranes. @LBandounas @Rong_SMTCLab @jerrylinwoods
