Fall armyworms are in Virginia again. After catching FAW moths in our pheromone traps in early August, we now have a bad infestation in our sweet corn in Whitethorne VA. Not sure if this FAW strain will also damage turf or not. Be alert. Scout your plots. @VAturf @TheVTF

With the weather dry & sunny ☀️ in the UK, great diagram here showing how a 4 sprinkler head system works. Easy to put too much water in the middle to keep the outsides moist 😳

So far, the breaks in heat and humidity in Raleigh, NC have resulted in less brown patch activity in tall fescue. Starting to see plenty of lesions in non-inoculated areas, but no full blown patches yet. Get your prevent apps out now if that’s your thing. 👍

Natchez crape myrtle just started blooming in Auburn. This is a good phenological indicator that Popillia japonica, the Japanese beetle, has started to fly. We are catching them in traps. Alabama (Axis AL near Mobile) is the southernmost location of P japonica in North America.

Wax scales are easily dislodged from plants. Each female on the leaf has 500-1000 eggs that hatch in mid May. Now is the time to use your pressure washer to remove most of them before hatch. scholar.google.com/citations…
