Kenya's inflation rose to 7.3% in October 2026 from 6.8% in September, just 0.2 percentage points below the CBK's 7.5% upper target bound:
— The increase was driven by higher transport costs (+17.1% YoY), food prices (+10.2%) & housing and energy costs (+3.7%), with monthly increases in petrol (+6.0%), diesel (+4.4%), kerosene (+14.7%) & fresh packeted milk (+4.7%).
— Core inflation accelerated to 4.3% from 4.0%, while non-core inflation rose to 15.1% from 14.0% in September.
— Rising inflationary pressures could constrain further interest rate cuts ahead of the December 2026 MPC meeting.
