I am not a lawyer but I think the opinion of the AG has merit.Habeas Corpus application is in respect of those who have been imprisoned or detained by the police by challenging the lawfulness of their custody before a court.Application is not a fishing expendition.

Nairobi United has secured a sponsorship worth Ksh380m from @SportyBet over a three-year period. Thatβs Ksh126m per season.
For context, this is the biggest league sponsorship. Bigger than Gor Mahiaβs and AFC Leopardβs.
Congrats @nairobiunitedfc, that's a win for Kenyan football.
Hizo service fees za hio game ya Ajax vs Bayern Munchen ziko too exorbitant

Yes, we must all be accountable
Arrest all goons, mobilisers, funders and politicians and take them to AJS
Political goonism is a growing threat to our democracy, the rule of law and the constitutional freedoms of Kenyans. As we approach the 2027 General Election, we must confront this menace decisively. We cannot stop at arresting the young people recruited to perpetrate violence. We must follow the money, identify the financiers and hold those who organise, fund and deploy these groups accountable.
I made these remarks today at Kieganguru, Maara Constituency, in Tharaka Nithi County, where I presided over the launch of the Annual Child Justice Service Month and the official opening of Maara Law Courts.
I observed that we cannot sustainably address political violence by dealing only with those found at the scene. We must pursue the people behind the violence. Every organised criminal activity has a network, and that network must be dismantled.
We must ask ourselves: Who recruits these young people? Who pays them? Who provides the resources and gives them instructions? Unless we answer these questions and hold those behind these criminal networks accountable, we will continue arresting one group of perpetrators only for another to emerge.
The Prevention of Organised Crimes Act, 2010, provides a legal framework for addressing organised criminal activities, including recruitment into criminal groups and facilitating their activities. The law must be applied to ensure that accountability extends to those who finance and sustain these criminal enterprises.
I also addressed the debate surrounding the release of arrested suspects on bail. The Judiciary operates within the Constitution. Article 49(1)(h) guarantees arrested persons the right to bail or bond on reasonable conditions unless there are compelling reasons to deny it. Where compelling reasons exist, they must be presented before the courts, which independently evaluate the evidence and make decisions in accordance with the law.
We cannot expect the Judiciary to hold people in custody indefinitely simply because there is public anger about a particular offence. Our Constitution requires that every person be treated according to the law. Equally, the law must be applied firmly and consistently against those who organise and finance violence.
I am particularly concerned that political goonism could become an instrument of intimidation, denying Kenyans their constitutional freedoms of expression, association and peaceful assembly. No political leader, regardless of position or influence, should be allowed to mobilise violence against fellow citizens with impunity.
I appreciate Governor Muthomi Njuki, Chairperson of the Council of Governors, for his commitment to working with county security structures to address this menace. I also commend Maara Constituency MP Kareke Mbiuki and the Maara NG-CDF Committee for their contribution towards the establishment of the new court.
The event was attended by judges and judicial officers, Judiciary leadership, representatives of the County Government of Tharaka Nithi, elected leaders and other justice sector stakeholders.
We must not wait until violence becomes entrenched or threatens the peaceful conduct of our 2027 General Election. The time to act is now.
The fight against political goonism will not be won by arresting the hands that execute violence while sparing the hands that finance and direct it. Accountability must reach every level of this criminal enterprise.

Ticket prices in European domestic leagues are quite high, families sacrifice quite a lot to even attend UEFA Champions League matches
One way for us to grow sports is to shell off the narrative that "ticket ni expensive" yet someone will happily pay 10k for a concert or alcohol
The government obviously needs to make up the cost of bringing Bayern Munich and Ajax to Nairobi but there's need to understand who the real football fan in Kenya is.
One of the reasons why original European football jerseys don't get sold in Nairobi and why DStv has had to reduce prices is because the local football fan is used to buying match tickets for an average price of Ksh200. Charging these fans Ksh2,500 for βa government event to open a taxpayer-funded stadiumβ feels like daylight robbery but that's the reality because itβs not cheap to bring a Ballon d'Or winner, World Class players and a former Man United player to East Africa.
Just two weeks ago Kenyans complained of βexhorbintantβ ticket prices for the match between the Harambee Stars and South Africa which was set at Ksh500 against the routine Ksh300.
Tickets will still sell as in recent times the national team has attracted a different calibre of fan compared to the regular Kenyan Premier League attendee. However, going by the reality on the ground, Ksh2500 is too expensive for a regular KPL fan but again this is an expensive product.

SGR Gravy Train
The World Bank says Kenya overpaid up to 117 billion shillings for the construction of the Mombasa-Naivasha Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), compared with similar projects by peers like Tanzania, partly because of fraud in land compensation and an uncompetitive contract award.

Why would a Court of Law handle such a matter?
Isn't this overreach?
The High Court has given Mosop MP Abraham Kirwa and the Speaker of the National Assembly another opportunity to defend themselves in a case seeking to have the legislatorβs seat declared vacant over his prolonged absence from Parliament.
Petitioner Timothy Tororey argued that the MP has remained outside the country and missed sittings for over two years.
