🚨New Episode🚨
Brazil's election has suffered from a lack of vision. No one really believes in the country's "glorious future". Except for Missão, an unlikely new party. One of its main thinkers is a "right-wing Zizekian"...

We just put out our first @bungacast episode in Portuguese. I hoped YouTube auto-dubbing would make it easier to follow for our regular anglophone audience, but it has refused. Any advice?

🇮🇪 The Irish state has published an advert discouraging grandparents from hugging their grandchildren, as part of a campaign designed to promote "consent".

What this interview really brought home was how utterly dependent we are on privately owned & controlled global infrastructure. We don't even have the emergency brake of expropriation at a national level anymore.
Why compete when you can own the infrastructure?
Josha Abels on Big Tech carving up the digital world and states helping their corporations get ahead.
Where does corporate power end and state power begin?

Francis Fukuyama on finding an apartment in Santa Monica in the early 1980s: "On arriving, I saw an offer on the bulletin board at Rand for a room in a shared apartment posted by one of the secretaries. She was a rather attractive brunette somewhere in her mid-forties with a deep tan and freckles, who had a rent-controlled house close by in downtown Santa MonicaI. I showed up with my suitcase and found the front door open with no one apparently at home. I walked inside and wandered around; there were stairs leading up to a roof patio, where I found, amidst a jungle of marijuana plants, the secretary lying out on a chaise longue, completely naked. She told me to take the bedroom
between her daughter’s and that of her own seventeen-year-old boyfriend. He was the same age as her daughter, and had his own room in case they weren’t getting along that day. When I met him in the evening, he turned out to be a bare-chested, suntanned surfer of California legend." google.com/books/edition/In_…

Some months ago, we drove past Noor ("light"), one of the largest solar energy projects in the world. It’s located 20km northeast of Ouarzazate, Morocco’s Hollywood where all your favourite sword-and-sandal films were made. But this is of a different genre – probably sci–fi, though I’ve seen the radiating light at the top of the CSP tower described as the Eye of Sauron, which I’m told is from some fantasy film.
The rays of light in the air are a preposterous polyphotia.
An ambassadorship for you. A police baton for someone else.
