I think few more lanes and flyovers would definitely solve the congestion here.

Public transit data collected with public money should be public and freely accessible. Selling it to preferred vendors in opaque deals is deplorable. Every single civilized country puts up gtfs data publicly along with Traffic congestion and other detailed city transit stats.
chennai one blocked my account. no more live bus data for a while i guess

A morning walk through Central Park before work. The ability to enjoy green space via a short walk from your home and/or work should be something readily available to everyone.

A better #Hyderabad won’t happen by wishing for it. We must AT LEAST speak up to make our needs heard & to stop govt apathy. The Un-Choke petition is an effort to do just that! Take 6 mins to read and sign it. Sign petition: shorturl.at/rl2OG Read: shorturl.at/vDQFG
I think what is actually needed is for Indian people to actually give a damn about their cities and fellow citizens. Anybody using the "I pay taxes, I shouldn't have to do anything" excuse should go live in another country. India isn't developed, it's developing, so it needs patriots, not parasites. If this triggers you, it means you're part of the problem. If you're not happy with the footpath (or a pothole, or anything else which is broken), fix it, or call someone to fix it, and don't give up until it's fixed. Be relentless. Be vocal. Be creative. Make it your mission to get that one thing fixed. Look at what Virendra (@Virendra0698) did by just calling the right people and being respectful (but also persistent). He and Arun Pai (@arunpaiblrwalks) along with the help of GBA and some wonderful volunteers turned an unofficial garbage dump into a pristine, beautiful footpath through sheer force of will. xitter.cf/Virendra0698/status/21…

Can you imagine, all of Hitech City was built from scratch. This area is proof that roads & pvt vehicles don’t make a city live-worthy, footpaths, pedestrians & public transport do that. Now read the demands in the #Unchoke #hyderabad petition. A 🧵 docs.google.com/document/d/1…

🚇 Operational Metro length and still being built in brackets Chennai can get into top 4 relatively easily. 🙃🙏🎉 🏛️ #Delhi-NCR: 416 km (158 km) 🌊 #Mumbai: 101 km (141 km) 🌳 #Bengaluru: 96 km (121 km) 🌉 #Kolkata: 73 km (60 km) 🏰 #Hyderabad: 69 km (—) 🏖️ #Chennai: 69 km (104 km) #Delhi is open and still building. #Mumbai is building more than it has running. Chennai jumped to level with Hyderabad, and has 104 km left. #HYD is the only one that has stopped expanding.

Looks like the media was handed a script by HYDRAA. Not a word about @savekapralake @greensainikpuri who for years, contributed personal time & financial resources in saving this lake with their weekly clean-ups with volunteers & working with Govt authorities.
𝐇𝐘𝐃𝐑𝐀𝐀 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐇𝐲𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐝’𝐬 𝐊𝐚𝐩𝐫𝐚 𝐋𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚 ₹ 𝟑𝟓 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) is carrying out restoration work at Kapra Lake, aiming to revive the waterbody as a habitat for migratory birds and protect its biodiversity. Nearly 60% of the work has been completed. Farmers who own land within the lake’s boundaries have voluntarily offered 70 acres in the full tank level (FTL) area for its development. They met the HYDRAA commissioner and submitted a letter of consent, according to the HYDRAA. The lake, which once supported local communities and attracted birds, is among 14 waterbodies being developed by HYDRAA in the second phase of its lake restoration programme. The project covers a lake with an FTL area of 112.80 acres and involves an expenditure of about ₹ 35 crore. Local residents have been visiting the site to see the progress of the work. Kapra Lake supports migratory birds and biodiversity The Centre has recognised Kapra Lake as a wetland of importance to the city’s ecological balance, according to the source text. The lake provides a habitat for more than 470 migratory bird species arriving from Australia, Europe and other parts of the world. Besides storing water, the wetland supports birds, aquatic animals and vegetation. HYDRAA is therefore giving priority to protecting the lake’s natural environment and biodiversity alongside its development. The project aims to preserve the waterbody for future generations, rather than focus solely on beautification. Restoration work prioritises flood control and ecological protection HYDRAA is undertaking desilting to improve the lake’s capacity to hold water and help naturally filter pollutants and waste. The work is also intended to support groundwater recharge, reduce flooding during heavy rains and protect habitats for fish, birds, amphibians and other aquatic life. The agency is increasing the lake’s depth to store more rainwater. It is also improving the inlet and outlet systems and building a walking track around the waterbody. A strong fence is being installed around the lake to protect its boundaries and prevent future encroachments. The project aims to combine lake conservation, improved rainwater flow and public access. Once the work is complete, the lake is expected to provide a space for morning walkers, families and local residents while retaining its ecological functions. #HYDRAA #Telangana #Kapralake

At some point Govt needs to answer a very basic question. If citizens have to privately arrange healthcare, education, transport, security, clean water, clean air, retirement and backup for basic infrastructure... then what exactly is the middle class receiving for decades of taxes? Because "earn more money so you can protect yourself from our failures" cannot be the economic model of a serious country.
