NFL broadcasts using the rules analyst: *guy gets welcomed in immediately, explains every last detail of the relevant rule concisely including why the clock needs to be adjusted*
MLB trying to use a rules analyst only in the World Series: *waits 5 minutes to go to him, producers have to remind Joe Davis he even exists, manages to speak over the announcement everyone has been waiting for and then still tries to explain something everyone is now clear on*
Always love the hyperbole of “best Sixers ____ since 2001” that we do every couple of years. Last night was “the best atmosphere since 2001,” 2021 they were the #1 seed and it was “the most anticipated playoff run since 2001.”
The anticipation and atmosphere have been there at various points along the way. The only thing that dates back that far is the team actually having the playoff success to match it.
This group has watched a lot of bad basketball together over the years. The Hawks series, the entire 2024-25 season and having the privilege of being cursed out by Knicks fans last May to name a few.
Pretty special to be there all together tonight.
Just entered the arena, very happy to see a healthy mix of jersey representation among the starting five tonight.
I’m as stoked for LeBron as the next person, but I did fear this place would become filled with too many LeBron-centric people and not actual Sixers fans. Nice to see the excitement is for the entire team and not just one guy.
Every year, you’ll hear people say, “just get in the dance, anything can happen.” The #6 seed White Sox beating the #3 seed Astros has been the only upset of the playoffs. Two #1 seeds in the Fall Classic.
Every year, you’ll hear people say “managers don’t make that much of a difference.” The Brewers and Rays are obviously both very talented, but Pat Murphy and Kevin Cash are arguably the two best in the game.
And of course, the owners are trying to argue in favor of a salary cap. Payroll #19 will be playing against #28.
First time since the Phillies beat the Royals in 1980, a first-time champion is guaranteed. Should be an entertaining World Series.
