Helping people make money is the best way to gain influence in the Bay Area.
Most people don’t understand the uniqueness of this place.
It’s a 40 square mile area from which $10 trillion in market cap has been created in the last 2-3 decades.
There’s a power law in wealth, but even the long tail is more wealthy than most other parts of the U.S.
It has a unique pay it forward culture where people will help you because they believe in the long game.
People believe in infinite games more than finite games.
No other place in the world gives opportunities to young people to take risks to build world changing companies.
Even with all of this, it’s a small network, and the word gets around quickly.
In this setup, it’s not a bad strategy to win by “helping people being successful.”
When you take a bet on someone with your time, energy, relationships, and if you have it, money, they remember.
One right connection, one positive recommendation or one useful referral can change the trajectory of your career.
If you don’t know how to build something to make money for yourself, help others make money, and you will move more successful than you think.
Share freely, help indiscriminately.

With the Army Navy game tomorrow, it's the last one I get to watch with my son @Tai3Watson for a while. He has elected for a path of service to this country for college and beyond, and as a parent it's very hard not to be proud of that. It takes a different kind of kid to make this choice.
As we await decisions from the Service Academies, he definitely has a favorite for where he would like to continue playing football after his very successful senior season for @mohi_football. @ArmyWP_Football is #1 for him. As a parent, I have also been impressed with @CoachKikel and the time and attention of @USMMAFootball. – at Louisville, CO

I'm so old I actually worked on the Office 95 website as an intern, and tried to squeeze an easter egg into this exact site with the names of all my intern buddies. It almost made it to production. Almost.

Anyone can film highlights of games. For these athletes to remember their playing days, seasons, history being made, memories being had and so much more years from now. It’s the schools that get their programs documented. That’s what it’s about.

I'm turning 50 on Tues. Instead of me guessing what indie devs/creators/prod mgrs etc would care to read from a semi-retired former MAAANG senior executive who also works on Waal St and graduated from the ivies, if you are in your 20s 30s or even 40s, send me your Q's and I will construct a mega post. I might make a youtube video about this creation process, but the end result is I built a vscode extension, completely, in about 30 hours.
I hope some devs find this a useful time saving tool. It's available in the VS Code extension marketplace, and is called Prompt Perfect.
This was built 100% with LLM support (@anthropic claude 3.5 sonnet) as a paired programmer. I have never built a vscode extension, and in fact had no idea where to even begin to start. This was an iterative process that started with my build doc, which I have left in the devdocs/ directory of the github repo.

I hated wasting time constructing code-in-scope prompts when trying to work through an issue. This extension is SUPER helpful when working on, for example, many react/nextjs components and you need help from the LLM.
The extension takes the contents of all open @vscode editor windows and builds a backtick delimited single block of text with all the file contents.
The backticks have the file locations:
```src/extension.ts
to help delineate the files.
There is a second command palette command which gives you a source tree in ascii above the code blocks.
With this one tool I can quickly establish a scope of context with the LLM that I am using as a paired programmer.
The content is auto-copied to the clipboard and you can paste it into whatever prompt you wish and get back to solving your problems.
side note: I will be getting back to my @AWSAmplify gen 2 project now that I have this time saver. 😀
Awesome new development for ALLCITY that could be coming to Denver soon 👀
We're actually the first sports network to be doing both live and VOD content on what is known as a FAST Channel.
Because of that, a TON of work has gone into this project and I'm super stoked for everyone on the team that made it happen.
I'm putting together a Defense Tech Hackathon for mid August. I'm looking for:
- Government and DoD offices looking to solicit solutions for defined mission requirements
- Former military personnel who can speak to mission profiles and contracting
- VC funds interested in judging the competitors
- Sponsors interested in bringing the pizza, drinks, or other goodies like cloud credits, early access to their platforms, etc
- Defense Tech founders willing to judge, coach, mentor, and speak to contestants.
Please send me a DM! Reshare for visibility and reach in building in defense of democracy
I’ve analyzed many images of high speed projectiles. Based on typical camera shutter speed and bullet velocities for AR rifles, the streak has the correct length, and the shadowing based on the Sun-angle is correct. It does look like a bullet.
