On Heat opening night, happy to announce that “The Miami Heat: An Illustrated Timeline” is now out. Tons of photos and stories about the Heat, from Day 1 (before it, technically) until now. Thanks to Reedy Press for this opportunity. Link to the book: reedypress.com/shop/the-miam…

Anthony Edwards joins Wilt Chamberlain as the only players with back-to-back 40-point season openers. He joins Wilt and Michael Jordan as the only players in NBA history with multiple 40-point openers. Not bad.

A suboptimal end of the half for the Heat, who trail the Wolves 69-59 at the break.

Giannis started tonight tied for 304th on the Heat all-time scoring list. He moved up 42 spots. In the first quarter. At this rate he'll catch Mr. Wade by like Friday.

A-Rod courtside. Could be rooting for Miami. Probably not since he, you know, owns the Wolves.

Giannis was the 304th player to score for the Heat, including playoff games. That made Klay Thompson the 305th player to score in Heat history. On a 3, too. #305

An update.
The Florida Bar has concluded its internal investigation into the direct messages sent from Kade McLendon’s Instagram account to Damon Wilson. Those messages were reprehensible and inconsistent with the mission, values, and policies of The Florida Bar. While McLendon denies sending the messages, he did not provide evidence sufficient to demonstrate to The Florida Bar’s satisfaction that his Instagram account had been compromised. As of today, The Florida Bar has terminated McLendon’s employment.

At least two other West teams had interest, we’re told … but Dusty May is winning this one.

Tonight's the 38th opening night lineup in Miami's 39-year history. Only one repeat - both in 1999. Alonzo Mourning, Jamal Mashburn, Dan Majerle, Tim Hardaway Sr. and PJ Brown opened the '98-99 season (in February 1999), then also started the '99-2000 season (in November 1999).
Wolves expected starting lineup tonight in Miami... LaMelo Ball Anthony Edwards Jaden McDaniels Jonathan Kuminga Rudy Gobert Would be 37th different opening night starting 5 in MIN's 38-year history. The only repeat opening night starting lineup? Teague-Butler-Wiggins-Gibson-Towns in 17/18 & 18/19.
