NEW police update this morning: Motorists are advised that Storm Boelo has led to road closures throughout Northern Ireland due to fallen trees. We would particularly draw your attention to closures on the Ballyrobin Road - both lanes currently impassable just after the junction with Seven Mile Straight– which may affect journeys to Belfast International Airport; and on the Glenshane Road, around half a mile from Castledawson roundabout, Derry bound. Please continue to exercise caution while driving. If travel is essential, leave extra time for your journey and increase your stopping distance from the car in front.

One of the most fabulous posts I have EVER read! Oh the joy...
How can you NOT believe in God when octopuses dream and otters have a favorite rock they carry around in a little skin pocket and cows have best friends and bees are out there communicating the coordinates of flowers through dancing and they have regional dialects? Cats are purring at frequencies associated with bone healing? Forests get absolutely incinerated and respond by growing flowers? Dolphins literally invent names for themselves and yell them across the ocean? Penguins are waddling around Antarctica looking for the perfect rock to give their partner? CROWS REMEMBER YOUR FACE. THEY TELL OTHER CROWS ABOUT YOU. THEY TELL THEIR CHILDREN ABOUT YOU. YOU CAN HAVE GENERATIONAL BEEF WITH A BIRD. I NEED YOU TO UNDERSTAND THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THIS. Goats have accents. Rats laugh when you tickle them. Elephants mourn their dead. Whales make songs and then OTHER WHALES LEARN THE SONG and suddenly everybody across the ocean is singing the new song. Monarch butterflies are born knowing how to fly thousands of miles to a place they have never been. Sea turtles hatch out of an egg, immediately sprint toward an ocean that they have never seen, disappear into it for like 3 decades and then somehow come back to the same beach they hatched on. Birds can see colors that we humans can’t see. There are colors out there right now that we don’t even get to know about. There are sea slugs that eat algae and use the chloroplast/chlorophyll and then are just like…photosynthesizing. And they’re super adorable. There are mushrooms communicating underground. There are seeds sitting in the dirt for decades like “no actually I will wait. It’s fine.” Squirrels plant trees because they forget where they put their snacks. Relatable. A CATERPILLAR GOES INTO A LITTLE BAG THAT IT CREATES ITSELF AND DISSOLVES MOST OF ITS BODY INTO ORGANIC GOO AND REARRANGES ITSELF, GROWS WINGS AND THEN LEAVES. WHY IS THIS NOT MORE BEAUTIFULLY TERRIFYING TO PEOPLE?? And you’re telling me a tiny acorn knows how to become a huge tree? It just has a blueprint inside itself? Your body started as ONE CELL. ONE. And that cell divided itself into a brain that can think about its own existence and eyes that can look at stars and hands that can hold somebody else’s hands and a heart that runs on electricity without you even asking it to? The iron in our blood was made inside a star?? We are walking around on a wet rock covered in bioluminescent oceans and singing whales and laughing rats and birds holding lifelong grudges and flowers exploding out of fire and somehow we’re supposed to act like this is a normal place to live? We’re supposed to act like this is all just a random, accidental sequence of events?

July bonfires are, every year, illegally located on grounds without consent; illegally set alight & containing items deemed illegal to burn on both environmental & hate law grounds. Never yet been “a large scale criminal investigation” to eradicate the practice.
Chief Constable: A large scale criminal investigation is underway regarding unlawful protest on the Garvaghy Road. I have given a clear direction regarding prioritising the evidence gathering and a criminal justice process.     psni.police.uk/latest-news/s…

What happened to me is bigger than one artist or one stage. When the billionaire class can decide which voices are allowed on stage and which ones are too dangerous to hear, everyone should be paying attention. So we're going on tour. 🚨BREAKING: A highly foul smell spread across Gaza City overnight, leaving residents searching their homes and tents for its source. Social media platforms were flooded with complaints from Palestinians reporting the same unbearable odor across large areas, from Al-Tuffah and Al-Daraj in the east to Beit Lahia in the west. According to journalist Yousef Fares in Gaza, Israeli military aircraft dropped hundreds of bubbles carrying the foul-smelling substance across these areas, deliberately contaminating the air and spreading the odor among residential areas.

I’ve just, there now, finished a rewrite of my next book, working title “Cat Melodeon”, and I realised that twelve years ago today I uploaded “March to November” for first publication. It was the most terrifying thing I’ve ever chosen to do – and that’s coming from someone 1/3

who has bungee jumped, skydived, white-water kayaked, swam Sharkfest from Alcatraz, skied downhill at over fifty miles an hour (okay - technically I didn’t “choose” to do that!), but you get the gist... Publishing a book is scary biscuits… but I’m so glad I did it. 2/3

#casualty40 highlights the horror of a bomb going off in a hospital. Well done #casualty for showing this. Imagine that happening repeatedly, for real and no one coming to help. Actually, it IS happening in multiple places in the world, carried out by barbaric governments.

🚨 No more sugarcoating. The UN just confirmed the 1.5°C climate limit is effectively dead. We will breach it within years, not decades. We are officially entering a dangerous "overshoot" era. Current policies track us to a lethal 2.6°C. What does crossing 1.5°C actually mean? It means a massive surge in compounding weather disasters. We aren't just talking about hotter days, as we are looking at abrupt, unpredictable severe droughts, collapsing ice sheets, and extreme floods happening all at once. It gets worse. Rising sea levels will trigger permanent coastal submersion, threatening to completely swallow island nations. Simultaneously, brutal severe droughts will collapse global crop yields, causing skyrocketing food prices and widespread shortages. We are completely unprepared.

A harrowing read but important to understand what people go through to get to Europe.
