CAA UNCOMMITTED SHOWCASE - A HUGE SUCCESS!
What a great day at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio!
Our CAA 2027 and 2028 athletes had an incredible opportunity to showcase their abilities, compete, and connect with college coaches from across the country.
💪 30 college programs attended, providing our athletes with tremendous exposure and valuable recruiting opportunities.
A huge thank you to Marietta College, all the college coaches, our CAA advisors, and the athletes and families who helped make this event such a success.

One of the coolest things about coaching high school athletes is watching the kid who WASN’T the best player at 14 become the best player at 18…
The early bloomer doesn’t always stay ahead…
The smallest kid doesn’t always stay the smallest…
And the kid throwing 75 mph as a freshman isn’t destined to throw 75 forever
Kids grow at different rates. They develop at different rates. They figure things out at different times
Parents, stop comparing your 14 year old to someone else’s 14 year old
Nobody earns a college scholarship at 14 because they were the best player on their 14U team
Give these kids time to develop. You might be surprised who they become…
Great graphic @CoachPynnCAA!
I hear a lot of players and families want the highest level possible, and to play right away. Most of the time, those two things cannot co-exist. This graphic right here has the raw numbers to show for it!
Go where you’re wanted!

📍 Step#5 GEOGRAPHY MATTERS!
“I’ll go anywhere to play college baseball.”
We hear this all the time. But are you REALLY willing to go anywhere?
When building your college target list, geography needs to be part of the conversation.
🏠 Start locally and expand outward. Consider distance from home, travel expenses, weather, campus environment, and family access.
⚾ Understand recruiting geography. A college coach 1,500 miles away may have never heard of you. That doesn’t mean you aren’t good enough. It means you may need to work harder to get on their radar.
📧 Be proactive! The farther you go outside your natural recruiting footprint, the more intentional your communication and exposure may need to be.
The bottom line: Don’t just ask where you’re willing to PLAY college baseball. Ask where you’re willing to LIVE for the next four years.

Reality check for athletes and their families: ⚾️
Choosing a college largely to "stay close to home" means you don't understand how scholarship baseball actually works.
The harsh reality of the daily grind:
1️⃣ 6 Days a Week: You are locked into baseball activities almost year-round. Coaches intentionally schedule weekend practices at awkward times to keep guys on campus, focused, and out of trouble.
2️⃣ The Social Shift: Players grow up fast. They quickly want to stay on campus to build chemistry with teammates and dive into their new life.
3️⃣ The Roster Fight: You're competing for a job. Leaving campus for 24–48 hours puts you behind. You won't get your work in at home, and someone else is taking your reps.
Parents: What's the ideal radius you're looking at for schools? 1-3 hours, or completely open to anywhere?
Any families out there having issues getting around the idea of being close to home? Drop your thoughts below 👇

Some people are worried about junior college being less than ideal from an academic perspective vs. a four year school but here is the reality:
Your two years at good number of junior colleges will have you taking 100 and 200 level classes in a variety of topics......guess what? You will likely be taking those same types of classes at the four year school in your first two years.
The content in those 100 and 200 level classes are THE SAME at the junior college and four year schools.
Your two years at a good number of junior colleges will have a mixed bag of teachers with masters and doctorate degrees.....guess what? You will likely run into the same mix of teachers in your first two years at a decent number of four year schools.
If you go to school in an area with a junior college close to a four year school it is very possible that teacher is teaching at BOTH schools.
Oh and one more thing......the cost per credit hour at a junior college is almost always a fraction of the cost you pay at a four year school.
One very last piece.....in my experience working with over 2500 families in the last 10 years, it is almost ALWAYS an issue for the parents and rarely an issue for the student.
Something to think about!

Talk about a hard worker! @landondip2 has shaved his 60 down and will continue to do so. That paired with an ev nearing 100mph consistently makes for a dangerous corner bat!

One more weekend to go down in Marietta at the CAA camp! Here are my numbers the last few weekends and stats through games this fall. Improved my 60 to a 7.5 and am continuing to lower that number💪@The_CAAdvantage @CAALayne

Congratulations to 2027 SS, Derek Hernandez, on his commitment to Youngstown State University! The Penguins landed themselves a complete player in Derek. With his raw strength, power, speed and hustle, Derek makes for a great get in the YSU recruiting class! The best attribute overall is his work ethic, Derek is in the gym almost everyday, doing recovery almost everyday, taking grounders and bp almost every day. He has earned everything through hard work. The Bishop Hartley product is coming off an excellent junior season and battled a broken hamate bone over the summer and since coming back hasn't missed a beat! Could not be more excited for Derek and the whole Hernandez family! Congrats! @DerekHern23 @YSUBaseball
Congratulations once again to @tycemav & family!

Congratulations to 2027 LHH 3B/RHP, Tyce Mavin, on his commitment to Edmonds College! Tyce is a great get for the Tritons as they look to keep stacking winning seasons in the NWAC! Tyce is a RHP that can get up to 85 on the mound with 2500rpm, he pairs that with stellar defensive play at third and a 97ev! Super pumped for Tyce and the whole Mavin family! @tycemav @EdmondsBaseball
