🖊️Victory! AB 1981, the True Cost of Care Act by @AsmAguiarCurry has been signed into law. Thousands of us traveled to Sacramento and legislator district offices, made calls, sent emails, and posted on social media and it WORKED!
We fought and we won. 👏
While providers operate in a deficit each month as our costs of running our businesses skyrocket, we need a payment structure that meets the #truecostofcare now -- that's why we fought for #AB1981.
This year, #CALeg and @GavinNewsom, approved a 2.009% cost of living adjustment that will bring some relief to providers, but not enough. Our pay only covers 30% of our rent, utilities, and groceries, and 2/3 of providers can't meet a basic need housing.
Until providers are paid the #truecostofcare, we will continue to be forced to close our doors and working families will continue to be left scrambling to find care.
Child care providers fought hard for decades to form a union. The results?
We won:
🥼 Healthcare benefits
💸 Retirement benefits
💻️ Training and education benefits
& more.
These wins are an essential part of our overall fight for respect for the work we do and helps support us as we continue providing quality, affordable child care.
There's less than one month until #ElectionDay — are you ready to vote? 🗳️ Vote by November 3rd by mailing in your ballot, visiting an early voting center, or voting in person on Election Day.

As Hispanic/Latino heritage month comes to an end, we're standing strong in our fight for fair pay.
The facts:
📊 44% of child care providers in California are Latina women
📊 California only pays providers 30%, on average, of what it costs to provide child care
Our child care system is straining. Providers are closing, and limited slots makes accessing quality, affordable child care difficult on parents. This is why we must be paid the #truecostofcare now, and the state must continue to fund more subsidized spaces for families.
Child care providers were thrilled to join @childcarelaw at Uncorking the Future of Child Care. 🚸 Thank you, for providing a space for child care providers to share our experience with building early education foundations for California's kids.
🗳️ The countdown to #electionday is on and providers are knocking on doors to talk to our neighbors about investing in public services and supporting candidates who will safeguard workers' rights, champion child care provider pay and expanded options for parents. 💪
For child care providers, losing our homes in a natural disaster means losing our businesses and our livelihoods. 💔
In the wake of the 2025 Los Angeles fires, we fought for the State to include child care providers in disaster relief funding, and we won.
The 2026-27 #CABudget includes $11.5 million in one-time funding for child care providers to recover from natural disasters, wildfires, and other declared disasters.
While providers operate in a deficit each month as our costs of running our businesses skyrocket, we need a payment structure that meets the #truecostofcare NOW.
Our fight isn't over yet. We are proud to stand with Governor @GavinNewsom, Assembly Majority Leader @AsmAguiarCurry, and @CaWomensCaucus for continuing to fight for our workforce.
