The #tornado shelter map that I've worked on continues to expand and new locations continue to be identified. Over 2,500 are mapped and more are planned.
Map is at findyourtornadoshelter.com - share this to make sure friends know! It's a long work in progress.
Watching that NASCAR crash...ouch. It hurt just watching the replays. Imagine what it's like in the car at those speeds, especially taking such enormous hits into the wall. (And remember, that used to be a concrete barrier...)

A tornado watch has been issued for parts of Arizona until 6 PM MST

ALT This graphic displays Tornado Watch watch number 688 plotted on a map. The watch is in effect until 6:00 PM MST. The watch includes parts of Arizona. The threats associated with this watch are a few tornadoes possible, scattered hail up to tennis ball size likely and scattered gusts up to 70 mph possible. There are 675,516 people in the watch along with 355 schools and 20 hospitals.
A watch may be needed later this morning in central Arizona. Storms have developed just west of the Phoenix metro - very large hail and a few tornadoes are possible. #AZwx
Since 2014 (when the categories were revised), this is the first time that a Day 2 Enhanced risk has been issued west of the Rocky Mountains. A Day 1 is quite rare there for comparison. Hence, the threat for tomorrow is quite high for Southwest standards. #AZwx
A relatively rare busy weather day for the Southwest tomorrow. The highest severe threat - widespread, potentially significant, hail and a few tornadoes - appears to focus in central Arizona, along and west of the I-17 corridor from Phoenix to Flagstaff. #AZwx
A shout out to @VivianRennieWx and @EvelynTaft on work on awareness of extreme fire weather in Southern California. #CAwx #NWAS26
Excellent mention of @weather_katie in a discussion at #NWAS26. Harassment of meteorologists is a major problem and has got worse in recent years. It’s a major issue that has sent excellent meteorologists out of the broadcast field.
