It's our pleasure to announce the TIGER in STEMM spring webinar series in #chemistry for 2021 funded by @RoySocChem! Fortnightly from May to July, we'll host and broadcast some brilliant speakers in 5 online sessions. 1/n
Thank you to @SaifulChemistry for his great talk! Plenty of laughter and groans for the puns and also a great appreciation for the fundamental chemistry.
We had an incredible turnout from the Cambridge chemistry community for our first talk - here are some of the faces!
Enjoyed giving an evening talk to the Cambridge Uni Chemical Soc @CChemsoc of @ChemCambridge on new materials for lithium batteries & perovskite solar cells.
Here's part of the great turn out for a Friday evening lecture - beer and pizza were optional! #RealTimeChem

Welcome to the latest instalment of ChemSoc’s Covid-19 drug series! Today's drug is hydroxychloroquine, probably the most infamous and controversial drug that has been repurposed for the treatment of Covid-19. #Hydroxychloroquine #synthesis #chemistry
The latest data from the UK's recovery trial and WHO's solidarity trials showed that hydroxychloroquine does not result in the reduction of the mortality of hospitalised Covid-19 patients. Therefore, the WHO has stopped the trial of hydroxychloroquine as of 17 June.
The above synthesis was taken from Cronin Lab's GitHub repository of antivirals, which can be found here:
We have written chemical-code (XDL) to robotically make six antiviral drugs (Arbidol; Chloroquine; Favipiravir; Hydroxychloroquine; Remdesivir) & they are on github here: github.com/croningp/Chempute… These will be tested on our chemputers later & a wrapper for other robots is possible
