Email just disclosed by the Grenfell Tower Inquiry showing the government's senior civil servant Brian Martin was involved in discussions about considering the risk of cladding in fire risk assessments just a few months before Grenfell.

Last night on @BBCNewsnight. Responsibility for removing cladding lies everywhere apart from with the residential leaseholders. My advice to the Government: bail out these people trapped in unsafe apartments then make the arrangements to chase those who 𝘢𝘳𝘦 responsible.

There have been two cladding fires in London in the last two weeks.
Last week, the Tories voted down measures to protect leaseholders from the costs of the cladding scandal.
Almost 4 years on from Grenfell, hundreds of thousands of people are still trapped in unsafe homes.

This is a block with ACM cladding which I visited in 2019 as part of a piece about how long it was taking to remove. Here we are two years later - the cladding is still on the walls and now it's on fire.
