Oakland council member Carol Fife says city council is scheduled for 11/10 vote to extend the city's 45-day moratorium on data centers that council passed earlier this month. The community's top concerns are pollution, increased rents and job loss to AI. More soon on @KQEDnews.

SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios.
The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios.
Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said.
Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior.

And yes, there *are* some concerning sources of revenue disparity in baseball. That's an owner problem, but they're not proposing the Dodgers fix the problem by sharing more of their revenue to bridge the gap, they're proposing the players fund the owner problem.

“Piketty, the man who documented American decline not only through macroeconomic figures but also through actual cuts to education — begun under Nixon, intensified under Reagan, becoming systematic and irreversible — explains in Le Monde that under Macron, education spending has fallen by 20%. Easy to say.”
“This amounts to the end of public education, its effective collapse in France, the United States or Lima. Which leads to the destruction of the social mobility ladder. And which, in turn, makes inheritance the principal mechanism for gaining access not only to wealth, but also to ownership of things that until recently were within reach, such as a crappy apartment, or even a longer life expectancy.”

if MLB owners want a salary cap, tax-funded stadiums, want us to swallow rising ticket prices while pretending payroll is ruining their bottom line... open the books to us. we know what the players make bc they're the product. we have a right to know what the owners make off them

best argument I've ever seen against a salary cap in mlb is the fact that we don't have any insight into what mlb owners make. player salaries are 100% public, but owner profits are a total black box. it will never make sense to cap labor costs without revenue transparency.

Instead of disrupting the celebration, the protesters decided to support the couple. Soon, the entire crowd erupted in applause.
