It's been a very dry few months but rain, for some of us, is now expected. If you get rain and you're driving then here's a few things to think about. 1. Weeks of dry weather bake vehicle fluids and rubber particles into the tarmac; initial rain floats these oils to the top before they wash away creating a very greasy and slippy surface. This reduces grip and traction and significantly increases your chances of skidding. 2. The ground is baked dry and hard and will not absorb water like it normally may. Consequently there is a risk of run off from fields and high ground creating rapid accumulations of surface water at low points. So if you get rain; 1. Slow down 2. Increase your separation distance 3. Brake more gently and for longer rather than sharp braking 4. Rule out aquaplaning and hidden potholes by avoiding standing water.

Family trips often begin with one person making sure everything is packed and everyone is ready. This Father’s Day, return the favour with a simple reminder to check tyre pressures, condition and tread before the next journey.

Collecting your child from university usually means bringing home far more than laundry. Books, boxes and bedding all add extra weight, so make sure your tyres are ready for a fully loaded journey back home.

Whether you're a motorbike, scooter, or moped rider it's the same message. Your tyres are the only thing keeping you safe on the road so a monthly tyre check is vital - air pressure, condition, and tread depth. #WhateverYouRide #Motorcycle #Scooter #Moped

TyreSafe is backing #ChildSafetyWeek with a reminder for families to think beyond the car seat. A correctly fitted child seat is vital — but safe tyres matter too. Check Air pressure, Condition and Tread before you travel. #TyreSafe #RoadSafety #CheckYourTyres

Don’t drive on assumptions. Over 17% of tyres are already illegal at replacement and a further 40% are borderline. Many drivers are already at risk without realising it. Tyres wear gradually so problems build quietly. When did you last check yours properly?

Driving for work means more miles, more pressure and more risk. Tyres wear faster than you think. If they are illegal, the penalty is yours to face. Not your employer. When did you last check your tyres properly?

Would you notice a bulge, crack or cut in your tyre sidewall? Damage isn’t always felt from the driver’s seat and can worsen quickly. A short walkaround check today could prevent a dangerous failure tomorrow. When was the last time you actually looked? #checktyres

Collisions on rural roads are four times more likely to be fatal than on urban roads. With hidden dangers around every bend, there’s no room for error. Worn tyres, low pressure, or unnoticed damage could be the difference between a safe journey and disaster.

Can you believe that these tyres were on the road and that the drivers thought it was safe to do so? Just shows how much more work there is to do on raising awareness of tyre safety. Share your worn tyres using #worntyres. #CheckTyres #WornTyres
