We are currently at Makindye Court for the District Coordination Committee (DCC) Meeting hosted by our partner @CEDOVIPuganda under the @GirlsFirstFund bringing together key stakeholders from the police and Civil Society Organizations. The meeting’s focus is on strengthening district level coordination and investment in child sensitive systems that prevent and respond to child marriage and teenage pregnancy. Through meaningful collaboration, stakeholders are working to strengthen protection mechanisms, improve coordination of services and advocate for sustained investment in girls’ rights, safety and future. Protecting girls requires collective action, shared responsibility and systems that respond to their needs. We are committed to #EndChildMarriage

We were part of a three-day quarterly @CEDOVIPuganda training alongside our Domestic Violence Act Coalition (DVAC) partners. The training strengthened our skills in advocacy, stakeholder engagement and coalition building, while reminding us of the power of collective and intersectional advocacy. We were re-energized and left more committed to ending violence against women. #EndVAW #CoalitionBuilding

We are currently in a session led by @iankiko1 focusing on child marriage trends in Uganda. The discussion is unpacking statistics, the different manifestations of child marriage within communities and how the issue has evolved over time. We are also reflecting on the post-pandemic effects that have increased vulnerabilities for girls, including school dropouts and economic pressures on families. Emerging risks are being highlighted, especially those driven by poverty, digital exposure and weakening protection systems. The session is deepening our understanding of the urgency required in addressing child marriage through coordinated action, stronger policies and community engagement. We continue to learn, reflect and strengthen our advocacy strategies to better protect every girl and accelerate progress toward ending child marriage. #EndChildMarriage @GirlsFirstFund
The day started with engaging group discussions as we reflected on the meaning of child marriage, how it presents in our communities and the legal protections in place to safeguard children. We also examined the role of our organisations in strengthening advocacy, prevention and response mechanisms. The discussions encouraged shared learning, reflection and commitment to coordinated action. We collectively agreed that ending child marriage requires sustained community engagement and accountability. Together, we are strengthening efforts to protect every girl and ensure a safer future. Moving forward, we remain committed to amplifying advocacy, improving coordination and supporting local action to eliminate child marriage across Uganda. #EndChildMarriage @GirlsFirstFund
