I believe that every individual has the power to create environmental change.
I do not have to wait for a government, organization, or international institution to act before I can make a difference. @ATEIUg @yecaug @BismacAmumpaire @geraldbarekye @missclimate_ug @min_waterUg

Young farmers asked East Africa a fair question: why should a jar of honey need a costly certificate before it can reach a new market? 🍯
Yesterday, youth sat face to face with members of the East African Legislative Assembly to talk about food systems, investment, certification, cross-border trade, and agroecology 🌱
CEFROHT was in the room and brought the farm to the table: our learning centres, the EAC Agroecology Bill, farmer-managed seed, and the danger of highly hazardous pesticides ⚖️
The lawmakers’ reply? We’re in this together 🤝

At the 89th Ordinary Session of the @ACHPR in Dakar, YGC’s @Brightonsir shared lived experiences of reprisals against environmental defenders challenging EACOP and other extractive projects. Defending defenders is essential to protecting human rights and the environment. #ACHPR89
Community voices are Key and should be valued for any project to happen in their communities. Communities demand justice and accountability for the injustices they are facing due to extractives happening in their communities.

AFRICAN WOMEN: WE ARE NOT HOUSEWIVES. For generations, African women have been at the forefront of agitating for justice for their communities.
At the same time, women have been discriminated against, undermined, and violated by the patriarchal and colonial system.
At the African Climate Reparations Symposium that’s happening in Mombasa, Kenya, we are reclaiming that narrative because reparative justice can’t be complete without restoring women’s dignity and power, and protecting them from marginalisation and climate harms.
