BREAKING: Kentucky Football comes in at No. 9 in this week's AP poll, No. 8 in the coaches' poll.
The first time Kentucky has been ranked in the Top 10 in Week 9 since 1977.
Still crazy considering the No. 1 strength of record and leading the SEC, but more fuel to the fire...

Arkansas had a 14-yard rush against Texas A&M in the 2nd quarter
That was the team’s longest run of the season!
Not sure how that’s possible entering the second month of the season

Kentucky won a conference road game… and still fell out of the AP Poll.
Only the 12th time that’s happened across the Power 4 since 1936.
Kentucky actually gained AP points (150 → 160), but Pitt won on the road too and grabbed the final spot by just 2 points.
Since 2014, ranked teams gain AP points after a conference road win 80% of the time, averaging +117 points.

NEW: Colorado State HC Jim Mora explains why he dismissed DC Tyson Summers:
“Tyson was relieved of his play calling duties, he made the decision on his own to leave the field, and he is no longer with this football program.” 😳
Says this wasn’t something he anticipated.

He spent three years at Notre Dame and never started a game.
In January he committed to Nebraska and changed his mind the next day.
Today he brought Kentucky back from 17-0 on the road and won it on a two point conversion in overtime.
His name is Kenny Minchey. He is 21 years old, from Nashville, and he threw for 3,280 yards and 32 touchdowns as a junior at Pope Saint John Paul II in Hendersonville. Elite 11. Four star recruit.
He committed to Pittsburgh. Then he decommitted and chose the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
And then he waited.
Ten appearances in three seasons. Zero starts.
That is three full years of warming up on a sideline, taking the scout team reps, and watching somebody else run out of the tunnel first. In 2025 he competed for the starting job and lost it to CJ Carr, and that was the end of the line in South Bend.
He entered the portal.
On January 4 he committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
On January 5 he flipped to the Kentucky Wildcats.
One day. He had been a Cornhusker for about 24 hours.
In his first career start he went 18 of 23 for 301 yards and four touchdowns.
Now today, in Columbia, against the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Kentucky came in ranked 24th and could not move the ball. Eighteen total yards in the first quarter across three possessions. South Carolina went up 17-0, and it was still 20-10 at halftime.
Be honest about that part. The comeback was only necessary because of how badly his offense started, and he was on the field for all of it.
Then he fixed it.
Seventeen yards to Kenny Darby in the third quarter. Thirty two yards to Nic Anderson later in the third. A field goal with 4:18 left to tie it at 27.
Overtime. South Carolina scored and kicked the extra point. 34-27.
Kentucky answered with six yards to Hardley Boyer. 34-33.
And here is the part worth stopping on.
They did not kick it.
A tie would have sent it to a second overtime and nobody would have questioned it. Will Stein sent the offense back out instead.
Minchey threw it to Wendell Rodriguez.
Kentucky 35, South Carolina 34.
He finished 28 of 41 for 272 yards and three touchdowns, and the broadcast called it the largest road comeback in the history of Kentucky football.
Here is the detail that makes it: the largest comeback in Kentucky history, anywhere, is 18 points. They did that in 2010. Also against South Carolina.
Sixteen years later, a quarterback nobody at Notre Dame would start came one point shy of the school record, in somebody else's stadium, and then chose not to play for a tie.
Three years of holding a clipboard will do that to a man.

If Texas A&M had never fired Kevin Sumlin and they continued giving him $2 million raises every 4 years and he kept his 66.2% win percentage, the Aggies today would have saved $102 million and had two more wins 👀
