ALT Statement reading: "The CILIP ILIG Committee has made a decision to step back from X for the foreseeable future. In the past few months, we have observed changes to the X platform which are increasingly at odds with our values. These include concerns around the proliferation of misinformation and harmful content, less transparency/accountability in how X operates and other actions which are increasingly making X a less safe and inclusive space, both for those accessing our content and for ourselves. We value the connections we've made on what was formerly Twitter over the years and as such this decision has not been taken lightly. We believe though that it is important to uphold our values as information professionals in all aspects of our work. We also recognise that these issues are not limited to just one social media platform and will continue to closely monitor developments surrounding other social media sites which we have chosen to carry on using at this point"
