I’ve read this and I still can’t quite believe they would ever be so stupid.

Exactly, the Climate Change Committee estimates that the UK will still rely on oil and gas for 20% of its energy needs in 2050.
There is no contradiction in supporting domestic production for this purpose and also championing renewables investment.

Good to see we've approved Jackdaw after all these years - I realise it's not as though there's major disruption to energy supplies across the globe, or that there's any reason for urgency, or any shortage of high-skilled jobs, but better safe than sorry bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Looking forward to my first @CIPD Trust Advisory Board today! While the core of the organisation is focused on helping members build their careers and impact in delivering workplaces that perform, the Trust is where members give back to the wider public benefit.

This morning's official #LabourMarket stats paint a picture of a world where employers are surviving, but not yet thriving. Firms are maintaining jobs, but careful of adding it - notably among smaller firms as @ons note. So much of this caution is fear of what happens next. (1/2)
This makes the Budget a big deal. No more nasty surprises - but maybe also some things that help on regulation, taxation and skills. Read more at cipd.org/uk/about/press-rele… (2/2)
