Behind every political prisoner is a human story—a family separated, a voice silenced, a courageous life interrupted. On Friday, 10/30, we will gather at the Lincoln Memorial to speak their names, honor their courage, and stand with those fighting for their freedom. Join us at 5 PM. #FreedomStartsWithAName Register: ned.org/events/roll-call-for…

Workers having a seat at the table is our cup of tea 🍵 The Sudanese Tea Sellers Union just partnered with the Governor of Khartoum to provide tea sellers with 3,500 kiosks to work in, free of taxes and fees, giving these women workers a safer, more secure way to earn a living.

A powerful reflection from President @iingwen on the enduring promise of America—and why principled partnership matters. Taiwan’s experience shows how shared democratic values strengthen freedom, resilience, prosperity, and security. An important read.
“For decades, the United States has stood not only as a global power, but as an enduring ideal, one rooted in liberty, democratic governance, and the belief that political authority derives from the will of the people,” writes former Taiwanese president, Tsai Ing-Wen @iingwen. Replying to @IEAKwame
@IEAKwame noted that many African countries lag in development and growth due to infrastructure gaps. In Kenya, government investment averages about 5% of GDP annually. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) continues to target those who defend religious liberty, even from abroad. At @asiacentre_org’s convening in Thailand this month, members of IRI’s global network spoke with IRI’s Chris Olsen about the CCP’s repression of religious communities & how network members are pushing back. By exposing these threats & sharing what works, IRI is helping protect religious #freedom in China & abroad.

🇺🇸🇪🇹 This is what practical U.S.-Africa engagement can look like. With support from @NEDemocracy through @CIPEglobal, AmCham Ethiopia brought U.S. companies and Ethiopian officials together around real barriers to investment and market access. Good work by Amb. Massinga, @USEmbassyAddis and @AsstSecStateAF. Transparent rules, accountable institutions and a healthy private sector matter for both freedom and prosperity.
Expanding market access for U.S. companies in Ethiopia is delivering on the President’s America First foreign policy. This type of results-driven partnership will lead to more U.S. investment and greater returns for Americans and Ethiopians in Africa’s second-largest economy.

Five years after Cuba's largest protests in decades, the conditions that drove hundreds of thousands into the streets remain unchanged. The average Cuban is struggling to survive on $15 a month while the regime siphons off billions to finance repression. In a new op-ed for @NEWSMAX, NED VP Eddy Acevedo and @IRIGlobal former Congresswoman @RosLehtinen discuss the importance for supporting the people of #Cuba pushing for a #democratic change and #freedom. Thank you to EddyAcevedo and @RosLehtinen for highlighting the courage of the Cuban people. The world must continue to stand with those peacefully demanding liberty. newsmax.com/newsfront/cuba-l…

As America approaches its 250th anniversary, our founding ideals of liberty & self-government remain as relevant as ever. In the @dcexaminer, @DCTwining argued that advancing freedom abroad is a strategic investment in American security & prosperity—one rooted in our Founding Fathers’ belief that life, liberty, & the pursuit of happiness are universal rights that should be valiantly defended. 🔗washingtonexaminer.com/resto…
