@Clay just raised a $115M Series D at a $7.1B valuation. Now, more than 17,000 teams build on Clay, including Anthropic, SpaceXAI, Google, OpenAI, Stripe, Visa, UPS — and 80% of the Forbes AI50. @nytimes just broke the news, but the story goes far beyond the raise. AI is unleashing the biggest wave of company creation in history. Clay’s goal is to be the engine they use to grow. Clay is a self-learning revenue engine that figures out the best GTM play for your company, then runs it. We started as the company with the best data about other companies. Then we became the infrastructure to run campaigns across email, ads, and landing pages. Now we’re building agents that learn from every campaign, predict the next best action, and get better each time they run. Software engineers use coding agents to write code. GTM engineers now use growth agents to autonomously grow their companies. In 2023, we introduced GTME as a new role for people creating revenue systems with data, automation, and AI. Two years later, thousands of GTMEs are growing the world's best companies. They are gathering in nearly 100 Clay Clubs around the world, from Bangalore to Boston and Lahore to Lisbon. That’s why we’re proud to launch a $1M scholarship fund, helping more people enter the profession. @Wellington_Mgmt led our Series D, with participation from @sequoia, @stepstonegroup, @a16z Perennial, @MeritechCapital, DST Global, @CapitalG, @BoxGroup, @boldstartvc, @BloombergBeta, and @EvolutionEquity. A gracious thank you goes out to our customers, community, partners, team, and every GTM engineer shaping this with us. We are going to unveil the future of Agentic GTM at SCULPT on October 8. Stay tuned to see how to use AI to grow every company. 🖤🩵❤️💛

We’re collaborating with @SpaceXSI to put Grok Bot to work in @clay. We're showing you exactly how to build with it next Thursday, Oct 29. Here's a hint: - You tell Grok Bot in natural language what you’re starting with, what needs to happen, and what you want back. - It builds the workflow in Clay. - Then we’ll use it to automatically research companies, enrich contact details, and draft emails for the right rep to look over. - And finally, we'll have Grok Bot fill out web forms, log into apps, remember what's working, and pull Clay data from your phone. If you’re usually doing all this by hand, come hang with: @AlexLindahl, Creator in Residence/GTME at Clay @matt_silberman, GTM and Marketing Strategy at SpaceXSI October 29, 2:30–3:30pm ET Reg here: clay.link/cFOzAsl Can’t make it? Register and we’ll send you the recording.

The calculus around whether to "build" or "buy" in GTM has changed a lot over the last 1-2 years. I subscribe to the idea of: "buy the infrastructure, build the brain." But, there are a lot of mixed (and nuanced) opinions on this topic. So I asked the best GTM operators how they think about "build vs. buy" in 2026 (at @clay's conference, Sculpt—which was s-tier btw). Here's what they said:

If you're in GTM, joining the wrong startup can destroy your career. After leaving Verkada, I spent 6 weeks meeting 50+ Series A-D founders before joining @Clay. Here are the 10 red flags I found in almost every broken GTM org:

Your sales elders had it a lot harder than you: - Selling lamps from a trunk - Lugging 20-pound phones - Babysitting fax machines overnight Sales babies have it even harder: - Can’t sit in a chair - Can’t even say words - Hands covered in mystery goo 100 years of sales in 10 minutes, featuring a 95-year-old grandma and SEVERAL LEGIT ENTREPRENEUR babies with LLCs.

if your SDR: - waits six months to follow up - calls three times - says “i trust you” twice - can’t be called back - gets an “ok, thanks.” that’s not your SDR. that’s elizabeth holmes calling nathan fielder from federal prison.

I’m BLOWN AWAY by how many sales orgs still build territories like it's 2010 and set up their sellers for failure. Here’s how we do territory planning at Clay instead: A little background… I was talking to a CRO recently whose org was running at 95% average attainment. Sounds great, except only 30% of reps were hitting quota. A handful of outliers were carrying the average while most of the org struggled, and leadership kept crowning the outliers as stars instead of asking what drove the delta. In my experience, a gap like that almost always traces back to poor territory planning. Evan Peters and I are going live next week to talk through exactly how we are solving this problem at Clay. Join us here: clay.link/ZSroIWq TL;DR, we don't obsess about zip codes. Our sellers aren't selling vacuum cleaners door-to-door anyway. We use signals in our own product to build account fit and engagement score, and split accounts into tiers on this basis. Tier one is great fit and highly engaged. Those get assigned straight to SDRs and sellers to close fast. Tier two is great fit but low engagement. Those stay unassigned and become a focus area for marketing and growth, who warm them up with thought leadership and content until they become tier one. That split keeps sellers heads-down on accounts they can close now, and gives marketing a clear mandate, warm these specific accounts, so the whole GTM org obsesses over the same accounts for the same reasons. Tag your ops or sales leaders below so they can join!

In Nepal, Avik Ghimire helped build a GTM community to show the next generation another path. He finished 3rd at Clay Cup with that community in his corner. Growing up, he never pictured himself running an agency or competing on a global stage. Now he wants younger people in Nepal to see a path beyond becoming a doctor or an engineer, with one of the world’s best GTMEs right there in their community.
