Several grassroots communities are already experiencing the impacts of climate change. Such voices deserve to be heard, & their concerns must reach those responsible.
As Bonani Moses emphasizes, government must raise awareness about deforestation & climate change.

My lovely 😍 friend @MbabaziFridah had the opportunity to attend a side event at the Renewable Energy Conference and Expo (REC 2026), moderated by @HowardMwesigwa , where discussions explored how renewable energy can become a catalyst for economic transformation and improved community livelihoods.
A key highlight was the launch of the Framework for Establishing Community Green Energy Zones (CGEZ) at the parish level, officially launched by @DrMusenero , Minister of Energy and Mineral Development.
The discussions underscored the need to move beyond electricity connections and prioritise the productive use of energy. From powering agricultural machinery and irrigation systems to supporting agro-processing and rural enterprises, energy must enable communities to increase productivity, create jobs and strengthen their livelihoods.
The Community Green Energy Zones framework presents an opportunity to connect parish-level development priorities with renewable energy investments and climate finance, bringing economic opportunities closer to communities.

Renewable energy can do more than power homes. It can drive production, create jobs and transform community livelihoods.
During REC 2026, we participated in a side event where @DrMusenero , Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, launched the Community Green Energy Zones (CGEZ) Framework at the parish level.
The framework seeks to connect renewable energy access with local economic opportunities, including agricultural production, agro-processing and rural enterprise development.
By linking parish level priorities with clean energy investments, communities can strengthen livelihoods, grow businesses and build more resilient local economies.
An inclusive energy transition must put communities at the centre, ensuring that access to clean energy translates into meaningful economic opportunities and lasting impact.
