My exclusive interview with @VRubinObs scientist @mjuric is now live!
In this exclusive interview, Professor Mario Jurić reveals how the Vera Rubin Observatory accidentally discovered 2,000 asteroids in just 10 hours while testing its capabilities on the distant Virgo Cluster—transforming humanity's asteroid discovery rate from 20,000 per year globally to potentially over one million annually with a single telescope. Jurić explains how VRO's revolutionary multi-messenger astronomy capabilities will detect dark matter's effects and light simultaneously, automatically slewing to capture cosmic catastrophes like black hole collisions within 30 seconds of detection.

How the Feynman Technique was born!
It’s 1941. War is raging in Europe. A young Richard Feynman—fresh PhD from Princeton—is pulled into a world that would change science (and the world) forever. His epic life is worthy of its own film, and you may have missed the real Feynman in Oppenheimer. But you can catch Ep. 2 of The Scientists here:

As I was flying to meet @neiltyson last week, cruising along, enjoying Gladiator 2, I realized, to my horror, that ancient Romans had a term: "Suppositicii" - disposable gladiators.
Built-in obsolescence, but for humans. The kind of gladiators you'd find in the clearance section of the arena, if Roman amphitheaters had clearance sections. Which, in a way, they did.
Modern academia is also an arena.
Only instead of lions, we have tenure committees.
Instead of swords, we have peer review and PowerPoint.
And instead of glory, many end up as… Scholarly Suppositicii.
This week’s Monday M.A.G.I.C. Message is a 33,000-foot meditation on progress, disposability, and the battle for meaning in higher ed.
It’s punchy, philosophical, and may just make you laugh (or cry). And, if you aren't entertained, you can give me a 👎

🌍 Did you know that Lodestone is magnetite (Fe3O4) that has been magnetized?
🧲 However, not all magnetite becomes lodestone, as the Earth's magnetic field is usually too weak.
💡 A special crystal structure in magnetite is also needed for this transformation. 🔍

Birefringence — “double refraction” is an important, & under-appreciated, aspect of optics!
It reveals light’s wavelike character & illuminates important material properties too. Now, birefringence has been measured in VACUUM & this is why it matters😂!
