ALT NSTU "Our kids can't wait" graphic with quote from a teacher that says: "The biggest impact to date has been to the safety of myself and my students. As a result of teacher shortage, I have been asked to supervise multiple classrooms, putting the safety of my students and myself at risk. Many times I have been forced to make a decision between remaining with classrooms full of students while another one runs out of the classroom. My mental health has suffered tremendously and I am looking for alternatives to being a teacher."

@NSTeachersUnion members are thinking of the family, friends, students and colleagues of M. Stéphane and the community of @carrefourcsap and @CSANENSTU.
The loss of a teacher, administrator and school leader is unimaginable.
My heart goes out to all affected by this loss.
C’est avec profonde tristesse que nous avons appris le décès de monsieur Stéphane Doucet, directeur adjoint de l’École du Carrefour. Les mots ne suffisent pas pour exprimer le choc et la profonde tristesse qui nous affligent.

This is a disgusting perspective by a Minister who’s clearly out of touch with reality.
People aren’t living in tents in parks because of the beautiful view and serenity. They’re living in tents because of the policy failures of successive governments.
Do better @karla_macf_pc!
The increasing number of tents in parks around Halifax, Dartmouth and other parts of Nova Scotia’s largest municipality is part of the “natural evolution” of summertime, Community Services Minister Karla MacFarlance told reporters on Thursday.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scot…

The @NSTeachersUnion fundamentally believes that governments, including @nsgov, should invest in our kids by providing fully funded breakfast and lunch programs for our kids.
We cannot expect kids to come to schools ready to learn when they are hungry.

We need the provincial government to make school better for our kids – with more teachers, more specialists, and more resources in every classroom.
It's time to fix our schools. Our kids can't wait.

This is reprehensible behaviour by the @HRCE_NS and @nsgov.
Instead of putting time and effort into securing low wage, untrained replacement workers, you should be negotiating a fair deal with @CUPE5047.
Our kids and schools deserve to have their education support workers BACK!
Remember that job fair where @HRCE_NS was all "We're not hiring scabs!" Fast-forward to this.

The teacher shortage is certainly affecting our @NSTeachersUnion members, schools and kids.
Our schools are in turmoil because @nsgov continues to do nothing to improve working conditions in our schools.
Teacher shortages will continue until gov’ts fund education appropriately.
And yet people still say there isn't a teacher shortage? It's time to get real and significantly improve working conditions and pay. That's the only way to address this worsening crisis. #onted
