From Our Bookshelf - The God Who is There: Finding Your Place in God’s Story
#csli
After losing his wife to cancer, C.S. Lewis expressed the fear, pain, and uncertainty that many Christians experience - that God’s character isn’t good or dependable. Lewis explored the fear that he had believed in a god unworthy of belief. He ultimately finds that there is plenty of room for faith within genuine lament.

Evil and free will
C.S. Lewis, The Problem of Pain
#csli
Please join us this Thursday, Oct. 15 for A Book Observed: The Problem of Pain. C.S. Lewis takes on a difficult question: If God is loving and all-powerful, why does He allow suffering? Lewis argues that pain does not necessarily mean God is absent or uncaring. Instead, he connects suffering to human free will, explaining that our freedom to make real choices also gives us the ability to cause pain.

We enjoyed hosting Dr. Kelly Kapic and Tabitha Kapic for our recent teaching and reflection retreat. We delved into the topic of “The Hard Road to Glory”, based off of much of Kelly’s recent research and writing on projects that produced his books When the Journey Hurts, Embodied Hope, and You’re Only Human. It was a sweet time of rest, contemplation, and connection.
