UPD officers and civilian employees overcome danger every day!
This morning, it was removing a live scorpion from an overhead light here at the Police Station. Later today — and tomorrow, and every day — it will be keeping our campus safe.
Stay safe and arachnid-free!

Moderate to heavy rain for most of the area Tue, spurring a Flood Advisory for inland Orange CO & the San Bernardino mtns.💧 Don’t underestimate the power of water. It only takes 6” of fast-moving water to carry away an adult, & 12” to carry away a 🚗car. Turn Around Don’t Drown!

Replying to @NWSSanDiego
@NWSSanDiego has issued a #WindAdvisory from 6:00AM - 12:00 PM today, October 14th. The forecast calls for south winds of 20 - 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph in the San Bernardino County Mountains, including Big Bear. Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and could blow down tree limbs. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
☎️ Call BVES, Inc. to report downed power lines at (800) 808-2837.
☎️ Report fallen trees to the City of Big Bear Lake by calling (909) 866-5831 or using our app, Big Bear Lake 365.
Here are some preparedness tips from @ReadySBCounty:
🍃 When high winds are expected, trim tree branches away from your home and power lines.
🍃 Secure outdoor objects like furniture and garbage cans that can blow away and cause damage.
🍃 High winds may cause power outages. Make sure you have sufficient water and non-perishable food. You should also charge your phone and medical devices.
🍃 Sign up for notifications through your energy company so you can receive outage alerts.
