California politicians love talking about “California values.” Andrew Luster drugged women, raped them while unconscious, and videotaped his crimes. Now he’s free after serving less than half his 50-year sentence. For years, California lawmakers tried to classify these rapes as violent felonies. Those efforts repeatedly failed. Then Prop 57 gave CDCR sweeping authority to expand prison credits. CDCR now acknowledges in press statements that Luster’s release was due at least in part to Prop 57. Drugging and raping an unconscious victim IS VIOLENCE. Where do the women who were raped by him fit into those California values?

Andrew Lester was originally sentenced to 124 years for drugging and raping women. After his sentence was reduced to 50 years, he was recently released by the California Parole Board after serving just 23 years. This is not justice. It is not accountability. It is a betrayal of victims and a failure of public safety. Proposition 57 opened the door for offenders like Lester to seek early release, and Californians are now seeing the consequences. Dangerous criminals are being released while victims are left to relive the trauma. ktla.com/news/california/out…

This young criminal was emboldened to do whatever he wanted by a broken system of justice. Now he’s killed a police officer. Enough is enough!!

Tell us again how people who steal are feeding their families?
Once upon a time in CA (before 2014), this theft at PetSmart would qualify as a felony commercial burglary with up to a 3 year prison penalty if caught & convicted. Now, it’s a deminimis misdemeanor theft, subject to a ticket & release even if caught (not likely) & the reality of not a single day in jail. #Facts #RetailTheft #FixProp47

The notion that people should be able to commit crimes without consequence, and then be released immediately from jail to go victimize others is absolutely insane!
Over the weekend, a woman was arrested for slamming her car into stores, destroying several businesses and burning a car in LA. She was released on $0 bail. Yesterday, she went on a crime spree, setting approximately 10 fires, almost killing two people who were sleeping in a car, and completely destroying Florist Mark’s Garden in Sherman Oaks. My thoughts and prayers go out to Mark and all the victims. This is not prioritizing public safety. $0 bail and George Gascón have completely left out the victims and the safety of our communities. It isn’t right. We must take LA back.

Encouraging to see the #justice system working properly in this instance. Remember that the surviving families of murdered victims are an extension of the victims themselves. OC judge rules mentally ill killer will not be released to outpatient facility ocregister.com/2023/10/05/oc…
