Safety on our streets is a top priority. Deputies from the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station are currently increasing local traffic enforcement for e-bikes and e-motorcycles to help protect everyone on the road. 🚲👮
As a reminder, all e-bike operators must follow standard traffic signals, ride with the flow of traffic and yield to pedestrians. Helmets are legally required for all riders under 18 and anyone operating a Class 3 e-bike.
Additionally, off-highway e-motorcycles without functional pedals are strictly prohibited on public roadways and sidewalks. Let's work together to keep #LCF streets safe for everyone! 🛣️

If You’re Lost, Stop Moving
One of the most important things you can do if you become lost in the wilderness is simple: stop moving.
Searching for a moving person is much harder than searching for someone who stays in one location.

Attention, #LCF! Today marks the start of California Flood Preparedness Week, and with a Super El Niño potentially on the horizon, now is the time to safeguard your property. 🌧️
Heavy and continuous rains can lead to unexpected flooding, debris flows and mudslides. Here are a few ways the #LCF community can prepare: clear gutters of debris, have sandbags ready, prepare an emergency kit and sign up for local weather alerts at LCF.ca.gov/Alerts. 💧
The #CityOfLCF is providing 24-hour access to sand and sandbags at the following locations:
✔️ LA County Fire Station #19 (1729 Foothill Blvd.) – sandbags only
✔️ LA County Fire Station #82 (352 Foothill Blvd.) – sandbags only
✔️ Camp 2 (4810 N. Oak Dr.) – sand and sandbags
✔️ Top of Ocean View Blvd. (2191 Highrim Road) – sand only
➡️ For additional temporary sandbag distribution sites in Los Angeles County, visit PW.LACounty.gov/DSG/Sandbags.

This Sunday, Montrose SAR responded to four motorcycle-down calls in the Angeles National Forest, including one rider who went over the side on Angeles Crest Hwy near MM 26.78.
ACH is not a racetrack. Slow down, ride within your limits, and save the canyon carving for the track.

Hot weekend ahead. Hiking is questionable in this heat, but for dogs the answer is simple: leave them home.
Dogs overheat quickly and hot dirt and rocks can burn their paws. They may also keep going long after they should stop.
Wait for cooler weather

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department rolled out new patrol vehicles equipped with modern technology. Since August of 2025, we have deployed new patrol vehicles.
These vehicles come equipped with improved lighting for visibility, advanced safety features like collision avoidance technology, and hybrid powertrains that support our sustainability goals.
They also feature an enhanced siren system. In addition to our standard siren, it is equipped with a low frequency low rumble siren, a deep vibrating tone that can be both felt and heard by drivers and pedestrians.

You are not alone. Your story matters. Your life matters. 💜🩵
This Suicide Prevention Month, remember:
Check in on your partners, coworkers, friends, and loved ones.
Listen without judgment. Sometimes being present is enough.
Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
You don’t have to have all the answers to be there for someone.
No one should have to face their hardest moments alone.
One conversation can create hope. One check in can make a difference. One person caring can remind someone that tomorrow is worth seeing.
If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Reach out. Check in. Stay connected.
Together, we can help save lives.

🌧️ DON’T UNDERESTIMATE THE STORM.
Southern California may not be known for hurricanes, but Tropical Storm EL Nino reminded us that tropical weather can bring serious hazards to Los Angeles County.
Heavy rainfall can quickly lead to flash flooding, mud and debris flows, rockslides, dangerous road conditions, downed trees and power outages.
Know your risk. Know your plan.
✔️ Prepare your emergency supplies
✔️ Secure loose outdoor items
✔️ Charge your phones and backup batteries
✔️ Know your evacuation routes
✔️ Monitor official weather and emergency information
✔️ Sign up for Alert LA County
🌧️ WHO SHOULD BE ESPECIALLY PREPARED?
If you live near a river, creek, wash, drainage channel, low-lying area, mountain or recently burned hillside, you may be at greater risk.
But remember — flooding and dangerous road conditions can affect areas far beyond traditional flood zones.
BEFORE THE STORM:
✔️ Clear leaves and debris from gutters and storm drains around your property.
✔️ Bring outdoor furniture, decorations and loose items inside.
✔️ Check your vehicle’s tires, brakes and windshield wipers.
✔️ Charge your phones and backup batteries.
✔️ Have flashlights, batteries, food, water and medications available.
✔️ Know multiple routes out of your neighborhood.
✔️ Make sure you can receive emergency alerts.
✔️ Check on family members, neighbors and anyone who may need additional assistance.
✔️ Don’t forget your pets.
DURING THE STORM:
⚠️ TURN AROUND. DON’T DROWN.
Never drive or walk through moving or flooded water.
Just 6 inches of moving water can knock an adult off their feet, and deeper water can sweep away vehicles.
🚫 Never drive around barricades.
🌊 Stay away from rivers, washes, creeks, flood-control channels and areas experiencing flooding.
🏔️ Stay alert for mud and debris flows, especially near recently burned areas.
📱 Monitor official emergency alerts and weather information.
If you’re told to evacuate — don’t wait. Leave when instructed.
A storm can change conditions in minutes. Don’t wait until the water is rising to make a plan.
🌊 Never drive or walk through moving water.
TURN AROUND. DON’T DROWN.
Prepare now. Stay informed. Stay safe.

Parents and caregivers are encouraged to review their school’s specific drop-off and pick-up procedures, including designated loading areas, traffic circulation, parking restrictions and any changes for the new school year.
Reminders:
✔️ Contact your school directly for its current drop-off and pick-up plan
✔️ Follow posted signs and directions from crossing guards and school personnel
✔️ Use designated loading areas
✔️ Avoid double parking or blocking driveways, crosswalks and intersections
✔️ Allow extra time, especially during the first weeks of school

Summer weekends bring more people to our mountain communities, and that means more vehicles on roads that demand your full attention.
It's easy to get caught up in the drive, but speed and sharp curves don't mix. Hot weather can also increase the chance of tire failures and overheating, making an already challenging road even more dangerous.
Take your time, stay in your lane, and leave yourself room to react. A few extra minutes is a small price to pay for getting everyone home safely.
