Immediately, the comic's narration takes on a sort of parental tone. It is strange, to me at least, to call John a "young man". This just feels like a very intentional phrasing

Regularization of 'sum, esse' is equally fascinating. This is the most irregular verb, so it shows the least agreement across the daughter languages. Mind you, this is only the 1st person singular indicative. There are many other forms with even more disagreement across Romance
