The chaos continues. From a goalie rocochet to an empty-netter, the #Kraken again found the auspices of Lady Luck - and a stellar showing from Philipp Grubauer in net - to take one at home from a Central-leading Utah side. emeraldcityspectrum.com/seat… for @EmeraldSpectrum:

FT #Royals 0 - 0 #Reign -Seattle's crossing was off-kilter all game -Utah was too passive/reactive to take advantage of the Reign's mistakes -Claudia Dickey dealt with the threats they did produce -It all hinges on Decision Day

HT thoughts #Royals 0 - 0 #Reign -Claudia Dickey with two excellent saves and several high claims -Lots of disconnected passes in the field for Seattle -Defense broke down over the course of the half -Emeri Adames hasn't been much of a factor so far

There does seem to be a correlation between integration and winning percentage standard deviation (as a proxy for the gulf between good teams and bad) Would be a sensible explanation for increased team parity post-1947 but of course correlation doesn't *prove* anything

I do wonder if this is more due to the third wild card changing the incentive structure, but positing any cause & effect here is a fool's errand tbh

FINAL: #Mammoth 3 - 5 #SeaKraken -Philipp Grubauer with an incredible game (esp. second period) -Seattle created enough chaos in the final 10 minutes to overcome relentless Mammoth pressure -Kraken now 7-3-1

Freddy Gaudreau steals the puck away in the neutral zone and easily finds the net to make it 5-3. 1:00 left P3 | #Mammoth 3 - 5 #SeaKraken

Chaotic goal to give the Kraken the lead! McMann's initial shot deflected, but he gets it and delivers to Samoskevich, who knocks one into the net! 5:25 left P3 | #Mammoth 3 - 4 #SeaKraken

Chandler Stephenson steals it away and sends it back to Bobby McMann, who launches it behind Vejmelka - but the play was offside. 11:12 left P3 | #Mammoth 3 - 3 #SeaKraken

Logan Cooley rips another one past Grubauer, this one's a true tie. Seattle has been badly on the back foot for nearly 25 minutes. Seattle timeout. 12:18 left P3 | #Mammoth 3 - 3 #SeaKraken

No goal, offside. 18:13 left P3 | #Mammoth 2 - 3 #SeaKraken

Kailer Yamamoto ties it! Seattle's loss of game control has turned a 3-1 lead into a 3-3 tie less than two minutes into the third period. Dmitri Simashev into the net from a tip. Seattle challenging offside. 18:13 left P3 | #Mammoth 3? - 3 #SeaKraken

Utah converts the power play early in the third period, Logan Cooley off Grubauer's glove and into the three-hole. 19:33 left P3 | #Mammoth 2 - 3 #SeaKraken

SECOND INTERMISSION: #Mammoth 1 - 3 #SeaKraken -The German Gentleman is having a tremendous game -Utah has been far more precise than Seattle after their pair of PKs -The Kraken need to find a way to counter Utah's relentless pressure

With the 5-on-3, the Kraken get one in the goal as Montour fires from distance! 17:37 left 2P | #Mammoth 1 - 3 #SeaKraken

ESPN thought he a was a Volga German I guess

FIRST INTERMISSION: #Mammoth 1 - 2 #SeaKraken -Early giveaways from the Mammoth allowed Seattle to get early momentum -Utah more physical final ~15m -Seattle only allowed one close shot on the PK, but it was a clinical one -First line has had more moments than the hot fourth line

Seattle claps right back! Matty Beniers takes the pass from Kaapo Kakko and whips it past Vejmelka. Excellent use of the power play. P1 18:22 | #Mammoth 1 - 2 #SeaKraken

Kailer Yamamoto and Vincent Trochek tie the game up, with the first close shot of the power play for Utah whizzing through Grubauer. P1 17:57 | #Mammoth 1 - 1 #SeaKraken

That's an early goal for the Kraken 3:38 into this game. Though the fourth line showed some life earlier on, this was the first line with Eberle getting one heck of a good ricochet. 16:22 | #Mammoth 0 - 1 #SeaKraken
