Added this to dotflowy.com for fun. Scribble mode is meant for those who want to write without worrying about spelling or feeling like they need to edit anything. It's a brain dump kind of mode.

merge a feature → get a docs pr ✨
as someone who has written plenty of “docs to follow” in pr descriptions, this one hits close to home

I love @foldkit. But instead of leaving React behind, I wanted to keep building with it.
That's kabuki.
It's not exactly Elm. It's a mix of the actor model, state machines, and Elm-like snapshots. React renders the UI; actors own the logic.
A simple explainer on kabuki, and the mental model behind it: A UI framework for @EffectTS_ .

I sometimes want to give up on progressive web apps.
The obstruction by Apple, companies that only use PWAs to promote their native apps, fragmented browser support, developer ignorance, and half-baked examples that enforce the idea that web apps are inferior.
It feels like an uphill battle that never ends, and I sometimes lose motivation to fight it.
But what if this fight is not fought?
We end up without this free distribution channel called the web, and apps will only be created inside walled gardens called app stores where Apple and Google decide the rules.
Where they can extract heavy taxes and decide who gets in and who doesn't.
Sure, we can still put our apps on the web, but as long as Apple is able to kneecap web apps in such a way that there's no level playing field, will they ever be viable?
That is still a fight worth fighting, and I will continue to show what web apps are capable of with What PWA Can Do Today.
That is my motivation.
Even if certain things only work on Android or desktop. Even if Apple makes installing a PWA more cumbersome with every iOS release.
Thankfully, we have people like the Open Web Advocacy fighting the legal battles.
We, as developers, can and must show the world what web apps are capable of.
Build great freaking web apps. Even if some features are only available in Chrome or on Android or desktop.
Otherwise, the world will never know what web apps can do.
The free, open web is at stake.

We launched OSS Scanner, which gives critical open source projects free, periodic vulnerability scans from our strongest models.
Each finding includes a proof-of-concept, and a patch where possible.

Today we’re launching the AI for Church Hackathon.
One month. Fully online. Free to enter. Cash prizes.
Build AI software that helps churches disciple, care, reach, and serve.
Here’s why this matters to me. After 15+ years in church technology, I’ve watched ministry leaders drown in admin work that keeps them from the people they’re called to love. AI can change that, but only if the people building it understand the Church. So we’re calling the builders who do.
How it works:
Build window: October 30 through November 27
Submit a project in one of five tracks: Discipleship & Spiritual Growth, Church Operations & Admin, Outreach & Evangelism, Care & Community, or Open Track
Submissions need a 5-minute demo video. A live demo link and repo are optional
Judging November 28 to 30, winners announced live on December 1
Our sponsor @Lovable is giving every participant 100 free credits, so you can start building the day you register. Solo or team, developer or pastor with an idea, you’re welcome.
Registration is open now at aiforchurch.com/hackathon
Who do you know that should be building this? Tag them.
