At the TUC annual congress this week, the FBU delegation supported a motion rejecting the common sense Supreme Court judgment that people are defined by biological sex for the purposes of law. This is a frienge view. Who is the delegation speaking for? Who did they consult?

.It would be most welcome, particularly in regard to the PFCC governance model and the potential pitfalls within that model. The Telegraph informed me they asked the FBU press office for a quote. @fbunational

Will the FBU leadership be commenting on this shocking case of a retired firefighter and FBU official having his house raided and being subjected to a gagging order after posting critical messages of his former fire service bosses on Facebook? telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/08…

A general secretary for hire. A careerist bureaucrat hopping from one union to another - even when he has zero experience in the industry. Wrack has become the very thing he once loathed. Thank God the FBU is shot of him.
Breaking: Matt Wrack has been elected as the permanent general secretary of the NASUWT teaching union He beat Neil Butler 5,249 to 3,126 votes. Only 4.7 of the 178,306 eligible members took part schoolsweek.co.uk/matt-wrack…

We ask again: Why was this motion, which makes a radical demand that has never been consulted on within the union and sits well outside of mainstream opinion, not withdrawn by the executive council? A handful of unrepresentative officials have taken us down a rabbit hole.

"An amendment to the Employment Rights Bill, which is expected to become law later this year, will void any confidentiality agreements seeking to prevent workers from speaking about allegations of harassment or discrimination." Take note, @fbunational. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c93k…

Incredibly, this resolution was not withdrawn by the Scottish region of the FBU and was carried at the STUC LGBT+ workers' conference last month. It is now a matter of record that the FBU supports 'equality for polyamory'. Crackpot politics have no place in our union.
Who decided that "equality for polyamory" should be the official position of the FBU? Certainly not annual conference. Who decided that it was then a good idea to demand the TUC fall in with the campaign? How on Earth did this crackpottery get through the Scottish region?

At what point will the FBU open an investigation into the past General Secretary’s actions, not only as the General Secretary but prior to his election when many good brothers and sister’s apparently suffered at he’s hands?

Which FBU employee was sent to work for a year inside the office of Mary Foy MP? Who paid his/her wages during that time? Did executive council members approve the decision? Did they even know about it? Did they know that the-then general secretary was in a relationship with Foy?

Big story in today’s Mail on Sunday. While Matt Wrack was in charge of the FBU, members’ money was spent on a donation to a Labour MP with whom he was in an undeclared relationship. An FBU staffer was also sent to work in the same MP’s office. dailymail.co.uk/news/article…

"The resolution was anti-women and anti-reason. It amounted to simplistic, ill-considered, dangerous nonsense and made the basic error of appealing to emotion rather than relying on facts and common sense." FBU annual conference throws women under the bus⬇️campaignfbu.com/after-the-an…

BLOG: It is now the official position of the Fire Brigades Union, as agreed by its annual conference, that it is 'far right' to believe that women and men should be defined by biological sex for the purposes of law. How on Earth did we end up here? ⬇️ campaignfbu.com/after-the-an…

The resolution passed. It is now the official policy of the FBU that the supreme court was wrong to say 'women' and 'men' are defined by biological sex for the purposes of law and that supporters of the ruling are basically Nazis & fascists. What on Earth were delegates thinking?
An emergency resolution on the supreme court 'trans' ruling to be debated at the FBU's annual conference this week. Note the appalling claim that the campaign to defend women's sex-based rights is driven by 'far-right ideologies'. A disgraceful slur against principled feminists.

This is utterly ridiculous @fbunational as well as insulting to all the leftwing women who’ve campaigned so thoughtfully on this issue while being subject to hatred and slurs like this.

Within the past 48 hours, the annual conference of my trade union, the Fire Brigades Union, has voted in favour of statements that brand Reform UK and gender-critical activists as 'far right'. The utter debasement of the term 'far right' demeans our politics. It needs to stop.
