Wrapping up! 🌟 Umaimah summarized her results, suggesting that differences in biomarker expression (SPARC & PD-L1) may contribute to impacts of demographic, health history, & lifestyle factors on colorectal cancer prognosis.
Using population cohort data from @bcgenproj, Umaimah noted that pre-diagnostic data can enable targeted strategies like prognoses to improve outcomes.
Moving to Umaimah Zanif's presentation 🌟 The objective of her Master's research is to explore the association of factors with expression of 2 biomarkers of prognosis in colorectal cancer tumours, SPAC & PD-L1. She supported the dev't of the BCGP Virtual Tumour Biorepository!
Does ASE contribute to phenotypic variation in aging? @mp_harwood summarizes her talk
1️⃣Low-risk people have larger ⬆️ in ASE with age
2️⃣⬆️ ASE in immune genes may be beneficial for healthy agers
3️⃣⬇️ ASE in aging is linked to cardiometabolic trait risk
4️⃣Meds linked to ⬆️ ASE
Population cohorts like #CanPath, @_CARTaGENE_ and @ON_HealthStudy are valuable resources for asking questions about disease and treatment factors, says @mp_harwood, esp. since many studies exploring allele specific expression ignore the impact of medications.
Tissue specificity or immune involvement? @mp_harwood is diving into how increased allele-specific expression during aging may reduce the risk of cardiometabolic traits.
Using data from population cohorts @_CARTaGENE_ and @ON_HealthStudy, Dr. @mp_harwood investigated allele-specific expression and how it contributes to healthy aging, disease progression, and treatment outcomes.
