I could quite literally write a book on design features to include in outdoor classrooms! Most important? Don’t try to replicate the indoor classroom! Kids don’t need desks outdoors 😵‍💫 Design to enhance opportunities for loose parts play & then add more loose parts & a garden 🌱!
📢24 hour DESIGN CHALLENGE: Our team is supporting @wrdsb Facilities & System Admin in developing a list of outdoor learning design features to include at school sites. Reply with a photo of your favourite outdoor learning feature along the location or source! Ready, set, TWEET🏁

If the mental health of students is priority #1 then the government needs to infuse the education system with social workers, psychologists and Child and youth workers.

We are incredibly disappointed that @fordnation and @Sflecce have not acknowledged the work of ECEs and #childcare workers/providers and are not protecting their health and safety. #childcarematters
Doug Ford stated the heath and safety of children and teachers is crucial so hes keeping schools closed. Childcare centers are open. Why is it safe for Early Childhood Educators and children 0-5 to attend childcare then?????

Once again @fordnation ignores the needs of the child care sector, but expects them to start providing emergency child care with no notice and no support. It's not even shocking any more that our provincial government is incapable of leadership & governs by chaos. #ONpoli

So since there was no mention of child care, is it safe to assume that child care operators and municipalities will now need to scramble to offer emergency child care for front line workers? @Sflecce When will N95 masks arrive for our teams? What other measures will we see?

We need to recognize the kids that can't sit still and are bouncing out of their chair as a sign. We need to ask: What can I do differently in this moment to help that child? You can guarantee that there are other children in the room that can benefit from this as well.
