Two decades ago, researchers started an experiment that would challenge the prevailing scientific understanding of plant communities. While modern agriculture treats diversity as inefficient, the Jena Experiment proved the opposite: complexity is the key to resilience.

🧵 All my farm visits this week and last have been bucket list visits (tragic I know) and @NuffieldFarming has provided the excuse! So grateful to @NRenison and @Cannerfarm for giving me time today. Chat around challenges of good eating quality from grass fed systems.....

Most people are good, and kind... But then you have the worst type... 😡 @Dunnesfarmeggs have been robbed again. A disgusting thing to happen at their egg honesty box which is so valued by most locals. 😢 Make this guy famous guys🙏🏻 #Kildare #IrishFood

The cost of producing food responsibly is inarguably higher than the cost of industrially produced food. But, not all costs are calculated at the cash register when food is purchased. How much does it cost to repair the dead zone in the Gulf of Mexico caused by chemical runoff? It's a lot. And, WE pay that cost. The commodity food producer does not. How much does it cost to have animal and insect species become extinct due to pesticides and herbicides? It's a lot. And, WE pay that cost. The commodity food producer does not. There are many "costs" of industrially produced food that are spun off and born by all of us. How much would food cost if those were taken into account?
