A lace pattern that is no longer in production fondly called “Canons Lace” was reproduced in house by our St. Martha’s Guild with just under 64,000 stitches for every 11 inches of fabric. This beautiful lace was used for the final vows of Br. Marko and Br. Joshua.

Today Br. Marko and Br. Joshua made their Final Vows with the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius on the Feast of the Assumption. As the funeral pall covers them they lay prostrate on the floor as a sign of their death to the world. The litany of Saints is sung and once the pall is raised the fully professed brothers rise in new life with Christ. May they continue to be a witness to religious life and Christ’s love for us all. Please continue to pray for Br. Joshua and Br. Marko

The blessing of herbs is a Catholic tradition that started after Our Lady’s Assumption into Heaven, when the Apostles found her tomb empty and covered with fragrant flowers and herbs. By blessing herbs, we remember that day, surrender one more area of our lives under His power, and seek God’s healing graces.  To have your herbs blessed (dry or fresh), please bring to the altar rail following the 8:30 am Mass tomorrow on the Feast of the Assumption.
