Admin was gone for a weak and a half, and our player numbers nearly *tripled* overnight, to the point that just about every server across every region was crashing.
As we like to say: "suffering from success". We've been working on fixing these over time.

Since we've joined forces with Ruptura Arcana, Brazilian community for Spellbreak, we've surpassed a peak of 50 active players in one evening - almost double the player base before shutdown. This is super!

What does it take to team balance? In Spellbreak, a lot of our current balancing was based on luck, so stacked lobbies had a 50% chance of being extremely unfair. We're trying something new by adopting the Glicko-2 algorithm for MMR.

6.3.0 is now out for download. This update restores the story, honor, daily, and outfit quests, as well as refreshes a few existing game modes, including one that’s all new, and never seen before.

A small but meaningful thing - we've been able to draw every menu theme from each "era" of Spellbreak since release, so Prologue and Chapter 1 are in Deadmoss, Chapter 2 in Banehelm, and Chapter 3 in the Banehelm library. Complete with lobby music.

Calling all #Spellbreak players! If you played during the Closed Alpha or Closed Beta on Epic, and you have NOT re-installed or deleted Epic Games or Spellbreak since 2019-2020, you may have data that can help us preserve the game! Reach out at [email protected] or DM us here.
Been amazing seeing lots of you return and play now we've made it easier than ever!
No more IP entry, no more console abuse potential, mastery and progression restored, online leaderboards, clash gamemode restored and of course, crouch restored!
The Hollow Lands still beckon

One very interesting tidbit of #Spellbreak was its quest system. I had always wondered how a live service battle royale had a quest system, and as it turns out, they had a much more ambitious approach to sharing lore than we initially thought. A shame we never got that lore.
We are literally so back! #spellbreak
6.2.0 is now live for you to download. It brings back a whole game mode that Proletariat cut, Clash, and adds real progression: Mage Rank, Class Mastery, the post-match XP screen, the rank-up cards, the MASTERY tab, the Gold shop, reward unlocks, et al. elefrac.com/elemental-fractu…

One challenge of a restoration project like Spellbreak is how to "gameify" it, making it feel less like a novelty and more of a real live-service game. I've thought of a "grind if you want" where the only thing that shows experience is your class mastery and mage rank.

Huge! For the first time since the game closed down, a player has successfully earned experience points onto their account and has leveled their Mage Rank and Pyromancer class mastery. Funny enough, since everything's already unlocked, the rewards make an interesting bug.
Doobs has been incredibly hard at work and it brings me great pleasure to share this all with you now
The Hollow Lands still beckon, Breakers
I’m very excited to share the next iteration of the Spellbreak Community Version. 6.1.0 is the biggest wave of new features the Community Version has ever had - a fully functional matchmaker, social features, a launcher, and an account system. Read more 🔽

We’ve made full-scale matchmaking and a friend system possible by reverse engineering the “language” the client speaks, and rebuilding the servers to speak that language. Before, the client would speak with no response, and now it has something that listens and speaks back.
Look what we (Doobs) has done!
I'm so excited to bring this back to our community after testing!
For the first time in over 5 years, a game of Clash has been played on Spellbreak. It wasn’t the most impressive game, but we know there are many to come.
