Among all smart contract platforms, Ethereum $ETH is #1 in stablecoins, tokenized assets, applications, developers, and investment products.
The financial system is being redesigned. Ethereum is leading it.

This is the first Ethereum talk I've watched this year, and uuugh...
Lemme speak as an outsider, who for whatever reason still has most of his net worth in ETH. This entire Ether issuance discussion is so stupid.
There is this bigass skeleton in the closet, and everyone pretends we don't see it. Let me shine some light: there is fuck-all to do on Ethereum. <gasp>
The reason so many people have ETH is because they believe in this shit - I believe in this shit -, and the reason everyone stakes ETH is because there isn't anything else to do with it!
Sure, you can shove it in the casino and hope it doesn't get drained; or when shit hits the fan, that you're awake to pull out before the cards fall. Who in their right mind would consider that a store of value?
The entire Ether issuance discussion is trying to remedy the symptom instead of the root of the problem. The symptom is that everyone wants to stake instead of using the network, so there's no economic activity being generated. Your thinking is that by reducing the staking rewards, you are stimulating economic activity. No dum-dum, by reducing the issuance you're making people choose between the casino or exiting. This isn't fiat where you're forced geopolitically into a specific currency; you can just sell this shit.
Stop fucking with monetary policy and start making useful shit that people want to use in their day to day lives. Improve the human condition and they will spend ETH on it and generate economic activity. Improve the reliability of the ecosystem so people aren't afraid of losing their saving while they sleep. Figure out recourse mechanisms so when shit hits the fan, the little guy doesn't crash and burn. Maybe then people will also use Ether, not just keep it under the pillow.
The problem isn't that staked Ether isn't generating activity; the problem is that active Ether's is fucking risky. People want to live their lives, not play onchain PvP against the entire world. I can't believe I have to be the one to fucking say this out aloud.
Cheers, hit like and subscribe for next year's post-devcon rant from Lisbon 🫡

💎 “Helping people get a yield of 4.8% instead of 4.2% is fundamentally not interesting.”
@VitalikButerin: the finance that matters is about cutting the chance of a −100% return, where you lose everything. That means making simple, boring things work well, not hyper-optimizing.
My ETH thesis hasn't completely played out yet, and until it does I will continue to speculate on its price action, and follow the blockchain's development.

Well… ETH functions as SoV collateral for the Ethereum economy. $ETH won’t go up in value until there’s more tokenized assets and stablecoins. Otherwise it’s just speculation hype aka bitcoin.
Ethereum is basically waiting for world governments to catch up with legislation so financial institutions feel more comfortable to mass tokenize assets. $600T to be tokenized and we aren’t even at $1T

🚨 JAPAN’S BANKING SYSTEM GOES DARK: THE BANKING BLACKOUT IS HERE
128 banak across western Japan just went dark at the same time.
ATMs, Teller counters at 3,430 branches, Internet banking, Transfers to other banks: all went dark.
Just a day ago, Japan’s Government announced that it is Considering Mandatory Shutdowns in Cyberattack Response. The day followed with banking systems going dark.
Individual Deposits "Without Payoff Protection" has Reached 140 Trillion Yen.
Interestingly, Japan has been preparing for the digital asset infrastructure using blockchain. The country which was once not so crypto friendly suddenly passed their version of Clarity Act before the U.S.
- Crypto has now been declared as financial assets and Japan announced plans to bring the government bonds and stock market on-chain.
- Bitcoin and XRP are now being allowed as corporate treasury assets.
- Over 50 banks partnered with the U.S. crypto firm Ripple to test digital asset infrastructure.
- Ondo and Solana chosen for Japan’s first phase of tokenization.
- Japan is even getting institutional privacy in their digital asset infrastructure through @DNAOnChain’s zero-knowledge proofs in cryptography. The same also provides private identities, private voting ballot system and complete on-chain privacy for the new digital financial system.
The cyberattacks are the stage to shift to the new digital financial system. The government has been preparing the citizens.
They asked for your data.
You gave them a proof.

this is true. imagine a scenario where most BTC is in treasuries, & almost no BTC transactions occur on the ledger bc it’s too expensive. if the block payouts don’t suffice, miners could leave, & create a vicious price cycle.
ETH is perpetual. burn, replace. stable supply.
Better poised to be than Bitcoin, which will run into many existential questions and technical disagreements. Miles ahead of the competition whom experience outages, and degenerate & toxic belief systems. The future of finance will need a chain that can be trusted.
Realyield: ETH 2.2%, BTC -0.8%
Quantum security: ETH done by 2028, BTC still in denial
Powering onchain finance / Defi: ETH native asset, BTC bridging risks / relies on centralized parties
Native to AI: ETH no counterparty risks, BTC bridging risks (see above)

I agree. $ETH is not money yet, and it is a better store of value than Bitcoin. Job's not finished.
Agree that ETH is a store of value that can support and back the creation of money, but it is not money yet.
Overcollateralized ETH stables can help create tokenized dollar-pegged assets that are less volatile than SOVs are.
Check out what @LiquityProtocol does for example.
The next cycle's ethereum:native upward repricing will be significant. With the current developments, ambitious roadmap, tentative macroeconomic environment, and multi-year consolidation, this may be one of the best asymmetrical opportunities we have ever seen.
