Binance hack update, Oct 30, 16:00 UTC 🎃 @binance set aside $6.34B of company funds to cover every loss. About $5B is already held in the affected tokens, around $3B is frozen onchain on top. The cause goes beyond one laptop: more points of breach, a multi step attack, no private key leak found. Per @_RichardTeng the attacker took over a hot wallet through EIP 7702 and wiped the tools afterwards. 18,270 $BTC sit in 19 wallets nobody can freeze (@arkham). @trmlabs and @chainalysis point to TraderTraitor, @zachxbt links the funds to the Bitget exploit. Binance has named no one. Deposits work. Withdrawals should restart in about 40 hours, only after strict tests. A full proof of reserves follows on Monday.
