so theres this 1960s science fantasy series that permanently changed the landscape of dragons in pop culture which as a result the flight smp can directly trace its roots back to, and while the premise of the majority of books is more akin to TFSMP, it also features a lot of this
💫 Eon@eonicstar_11h
Flight SMP AU where there's no eminent all destroying evil (corruption) so its just a bunch of random people getting dragged into complicated politics because they got chosen by a Dragon.

While most of the Pern books are set during the 9th pass, there are a number of books that are set during the intervals. Anyway whether or not I recommend these depends on how much you love dragon politics vs your resilience to of-the-time questionable irl politics seeping in

but like they are foundational texts for me I cannot lie. They are also the progenitor of the concept of "dragonriders" particularly as a military unit that use fire to fight back something that destroys all life it touches. thanks grandma pern

Btw if y'all see any potential fae related stuff in other POVs could y'all let me know I really wanna document as much as I can about The Flight's feywilds I also haven't seen much of tf!Ambear's pov so I'm probably missing some of her lore </3

Chat I have so many thoughts I love the flight smp and all the worldbuilding and i'm absolutely ecstatic to being getting fae lore so anyway here are my notes (I'm counting Magpie's story about nymphs bc the term Fae tends to encompass most spirits of nature)

ykw ill post this out of the group chat if the thing in Drift's head ever actualises enough to develop its own identity i do believe it is going to take the name Rynn Valeheart from Drift, fae style

this also comes with the highly likely risk of drift losing all her memories of thornreach, as those are rynn's memories

feels like the flight smp needs more character variance for non human characters. maybe like idk. a gorilla, from the moon. welding a tesla cannon. maybe he could have a dome shield to protect against aoe spells.

#theflight on tfDrifts substance abuse problems remembering when she pulled out like 22 empty bottles and there was barely a question about it. she's just a heavy weight when it comes to tanking alcohol so noone even REALISES she's drinking
