My hot take for today is that if you are beating someone in your local scene in Melee and they keep making the same mistakes, you have an actual social and moral responsibility to teach them. If you don't, you're weak and making your community worse to enable your weakness.

I know this just a silly joke, but we talk about it CONSTANTLY. Thing is, your reaction time only slows a few ms per decade. Even a tiny amount of practice will easily make up for 3ms difference.
And no one is good after work during the week, don't play for keeps at the local.

At a Lorcana tournament today and the price of entry was 12 pack of cans of Diet Coke. No cash, no other form of payment accepted. There’s almost 70 people here.

Fizzi shouldve confiscated slippi from us when irl events returned

why go to a smashfest to play when you can just play online whenever you want? convenience has outweighed the social aspects of the game for many people. and who can blame them ? slippi/online existing at all is a miracle, and allows players to get better at an unforeseen rate

Public Service Announcement and some info about QCS moving forward
I'm going to shout into the void for a minute because long strings of words are really the best way I can express myself.
I want to preface while this looks like I'm getting emo on the timeline over an event, and I don't even know that I'm very emotional as I type this because I'm really not emotionally attached to the success of events anymore (that's another conversation I'll touch on it shortly).
Honestly, I think I just started running events and we had so much fun and pushed the limit of what I thought we could do and now there's just this pressure to keep pushing the envelope and take it to another level and I think we've finally got to the point where we just have to chill out. I would love to have a weekend event in Kentucky where it feels like a major, but either QCS, Kentucky, or a mixture of both are not ready for it. That's not a problem! It's just the reality of it and that's okay with me.
This is a new market and we priced ourselves out of it I think, and this discount is me trying to make that right and have a hype weekend with all our friends.
I'm sure you've seen that I've not been as active in the community recently. I'm trying to focus on my family and getting healthier (Doing great btw. Down about 20 lbs and having fun being a cheer/football/academic team dad and taking my position as a worship pastor more seriously), so I've not been as invested in events and the community. If I'm really honest, my heart just isn't really in promoting stuff right now and that's why I've come to the realization that things are gonna have to change a bit.
I already did the Tom Brady thing where I "retired" and came back, so I'm not going to put you guys through another one of those situations. I'll never be gone from the community, but I just don't think it's healthy for me to keep pouring into this stuff at the rate I've been since 2019.
I would love for as many people to join us in Ashland as possible, because this is going to be the last big event with QCS for a long time. Would love to get a big surge of homies in these last couple weeks, cut my losses on this one and just enjoy being a part of the Smash and FGC communities for a while.
I plan to run another chill QCS Homecoming event in my hometown of Hazard in January to celebrate five years as an org and then just going stream some games and online stuff to release some of the pressure I've been putting on myself.
The Smash and FGC scenes in Kentucky have given me another family I didn't think I would ever have at this stage in my life and I'm not going anywhere. I'm just getting back to having fun.
Love you all and hope to see you in a couple weekends in Ashland, Hazard in January, or just hang in Discord or SPD you at a random local.
PSA: This is not a drill.
We have slashed priced for our November 23-24 event in Ashland and it's so we can get as many people there as possible.
Schedule in the comments.

We need to be less comfortable allowing 25% of our players to go 0-2
It’s crazy we are allowing these players to spend money, travel, and support events without giving em more
Round robin pools, Waterfall, amateur bracket, just something!
These people deserve their hype sets!!
