1/9 It never rains but it pours…
Our annual escape to Portugal had barely begun when Mum, who is 89, tripped and fell. Her arm flew backwards, and I knew immediately it wasn’t a good sign. 🧵
8/9 Older people don’t need less care. They need the right care: timely, proportionate, personalised and shaped around what matters to them.
The NHS “left shift” must mean more than moving care from hospitals into communities.
9/9 It should also mean simpler pathways, fewer unnecessary handoffs, earlier senior decisions and genuine shared decision-making.
This week, in a small town in Portugal, we experienced exactly that.
Mum is safely in plaster and we’re enjoying the sunshine.

What a first week since leaving @live_evergreen I’ve had some really great conversations about portfolio and advisory roles and am excited about the opportunities ahead. I’ve also enjoyed having time to reconnect properly with long-standing friends.
I’m excited about the new paths, possibilities and opportunities ahead but this week has reinforced something even more important: make time for the people who matter and never take anything for granted.
A wonderful couple of days walking in the Cotswolds fresh air, big views and time to think.
As one chapter of my working life comes to an end, I’m feeling incredibly positive about what lies ahead. New paths, new possibilities, new adventures.
The best may well be yet to come💚

I’m looking forward to taking a little time to reflect before building a portfolio career, supporting organisations across health and care, and continuing to champion innovation that makes a real difference to people’s lives.
