In 1989, a still-struggling Brad Pitt flew to Budapest with almost no money left—only to have his fiancée end the relationship over dinner. He and actress Jill Schoelen had met the previous year on the set of the low-budget horror film Cutting Class. Their relationship moved quickly, and Pitt proposed. The engagement was short-lived. While Schoelen was in Hungary filming The Phantom of the Opera, she called Pitt in Los Angeles. She was crying, said she felt lonely, and told him there was “a huge drama.” At the time Pitt had roughly $800 to his name. He spent about $600 of it on a plane ticket from Los Angeles to Hungary. He went straight to the set, and that night they went out to dinner. Over the table she told him she had fallen in love with the film’s director, Dwight Little. Shocked, Pitt replied, “I’m outta here.” With almost no money left, he spent the night sitting on a bench in Budapest, smoking and talking to a local homeless man who spoke no English. He later described it as one of the nights he still remembers, especially after success arrived. He returned to the United States completely broke. Within a couple of years he landed the role that changed everything: Thelma & Louise. The Budapest night did not create his career, but it became a sharp early reminder of how quickly things can turn—and how little money and certainty he had when they did.

The good news: you can mid-train yourself to the frontier! At a fraction of the cost! Without distillation! What we did: We took Qwen3.5 14B and mid- and post-trained it to beat every other open model and perform as well as the very best frontier models. This is no simple toy task or format fixing, we are training the model to understand and reason over DNA sequences. Bio is the next frontier for AI and universal access will be crucial to make progress. The fun part: because we train the model on both natural language and DNA sequences you can actually 'chat to your DNA': Ask it questions, ponder the impact of mutations, or ask it to generate a small sequence. We'll soon see the frontier labs move away from math and cyber towards bio. It already started, and we believe researchers should have access to capable models. We are releasing the full recipe, so you can do it, too! Model: huggingface.co/HuggingFaceBi… Blog: huggingface.co/spaces/Huggin…

Roughly yes. UN WPP 2024 projects ~132.5M global births in 2026. Southern Asia (~36.8M) + Western Africa (~15.2M) + Eastern Africa (~16.5M) total ~51.7%, matching the red zones of high-density/high-fertility areas shown.

SF’s dating pool was once, as an Egyptian founder put it to us, “drier than the desert in my homeland.” Now, gorgeous women are flocking to the city. Why? As AI gets cheaper to build, companies flush with venture cash are hiring beautiful women to charm investors and clients. Enjoy it while it lasts, gentlemen. As @nicolewizman1 writes: paying hotties 6 figures to get drunk with your business prospects feels like a pretty good sign we’re in a bubble. 👇

Jensen closed his GTC Berlin 2026 keynote with this Hermes Agent demo as the finale. He introduced it by saying the way to build an agent is to ask an agent to build it for you, so he installed and set up a customized Hermes in one prompt. Then he used Hermes, running on @nvidia RTX Spark, to create a simulated training environment for the @huggingface Microduck. Hermes planned an obstacle course with Nemotron and had GPT-6 Astra build it using FreeCAD, Omniverse libraries, Blender, Newton, and Isaac Lab. Hermes trained thousands of simulated ducks on that course until the validated policy was ready to run on the real robot in the physical world. At Nous, we believe open source is a practical tool as much as a philosophical ideal. It gives users the ability to build powerful, complex workflows chaining numerous local+cloud models, devices, and tools themselves instead of waiting for a company to enable them.

SF Nimbys: "we don't have space for more homes, if we did...what about traffic!?" Developers: "ok, how about we put 5,000+ homes on top of an ugly railyard, rebuild the train terminal and add lots of shops". SF Nimbys: "f*ck"
One of San Francisco's largest redevelopment projects could completely transform nearly 19 acres of land near Downtown. Plans are moving forward for the redevelopment of the Caltrain Railyards at 4th and King in SoMa. The project could include: • Up to 5,834 apartments • Up to 5.6 million SF of commercial space • 160,000+ SF of retail • A completely rebuilt Caltrain station • More than 4 acres of public open space • Multiple skyscrapers reaching 350 to 600 feet • A potential 850-foot tower This land is currently occupied by railroad tracks, platforms, maintenance facilities and the existing Caltrain station. The proposal would modernize the transit infrastructure, relocate train storage and maintenance, and create an entirely new mixed-use neighborhood above and around the station. Thousands of people could be living, working, shopping and spending time in what is currently a massive rail yard. And all directly connected to one of the Bay Area's most important transit corridors. The project is now entering environmental review, with construction potentially starting in 2029 and taking 15 to 20 years to complete.... There's obviously a long road ahead, but I love seeing developers think this big about underutilized urban land. This could completely reshape SF. 📍San Francisco

🌶️ this isn't pushback against AI - it's demand for attribution-based control of AI.
notice.. > Delta is blocking AI agents from booking flights > JPMorgan Chase and Charles Schwab block agents from accessing accounts > Yelp requires paid data licensing for agents > Amazon has blocked Grok bot and other shopping agents. the internet is starting to block AI agents that were supposed to do everything for us
